You're going to have problems. Why is he using an address he doesn't live at for anything? This will look like evidence of living together.

It's going to be very difficult for you to prove he doesn't reside at the address due to the evidence the HMRC may have.

HMRC have access to credit reports and based on he may be classed as living with you.

If they are investigating your claim they may stop your tax credits based on the above and you will have to prove he doesn't live there which as said will be difficult.

It's not in a person's interest who claims benefits as a single person to allow someone to use their address for postal reasons.

  • Well thank you for your advice I will just have to try my best to prove that he doesn't actually live here. I will perhaps be best to get him to use his parents address instead although there is nothing I can do about the mortgage though, thanks though

Hope all goes well, we are looking at worse case scenario and it could be a backlog.

    Good Luck.

  • I would worry, just got my paperwork back from them and it's all wrong, I told them we have 2 children and they still say we only have 1 and they got my wife's earnings totally cocked up. Looks like I will have to spend another hour on the phone sorting it out again!!!
Nothing to see here, move along.
