Old hands will chuckle but...
Last september while setting up a new office we took out a sub to freeserve broadband. Cheap and cheerful but the speed was appalling. After months of really slow connections we decided that after the year was up we'd move to something that was fast. But last week we upgraded the computer and in the process a IT person pointed out that whenever we clicked on speedtouch icon on the desktop (which we did every morning) it started dial up access. To get broadband you had to merely start internet explorer and it worked automatically. So... For 6 months we have been paying for Broadband but somehow using dial up. Now we know what to do the system is lightning fast. All this came from a non specialist using the broadband cd to install Freeserve broadband and ending up with dial up.

I have Freeserve broadband and generally I think it value for money but as a pensioner I can no longer justify or afford the expense. Recently I saw Martin's monersaver Call 18866. Is there any way this can be used for pay as you go internet access?0

In theory yes Hugonext but in practice the difficulty is finding an internet provider that uses a geographical number to use with 18866. Also 18866 can block calls to a number that they think might be an internet provider.0

Not tried this, but see link here for free dial up in USA.

Suggestion is to use Call1899 to dial which of course has free calls to USA/Canada at present, aside from a 3p connection fee.0
