Just found a nice app where you speak commands and it does (iphone style)

i would love to tell you what the app is called but google didn't see the point in naming the app

anyway if you've got it you'll know the one i mean

now to my question:

The voice interpreter is quite outstanding

i say "Navigate to Specsavers", "New Message", "Set alarm for 10 o' clock", "New Email", "Search for turtles"

voice interpreter says "Navigate to Specsavers", "New Message", "Set alarm for 10 o' clock", "New Email", "Search for turtles"

problem arises when this command is past from the interpreter to the second part of the app which does nadda with it except put it into google search

QUE!???

i think the voice interpreter has been created by 3rd party professionals and those interpretations have been handed over to 4 monkeys wearing Google boiler suits who just put everthing into google search rendering the whole app a total waste of desktop space

Am I missing something or is this truly crap app
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

If you mean Voice Search it's a basic app included on Androids since I think around version 2.2 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) - if you're looking for a Siri-like app try Iris or look into ways to get S-Voice on your handset from the S3.

    OP

looks like you are new to android and dont know what you are talking about, especially seeing your numerous queries regarding email etc over the last few weeks.

see some of the videos on these play lists which are frequently updated and many of your questions will be answered and you will find new ways to enjoy your device.

as you will find on the videos there are dime a dozen voice search and voice activated action apps and have been there for years long before siri and so it has nothing to do with "iphone style" app. you will see videos from 4y ago showing voice search etc and video from the 90s showing tablets devices. Hope you like some of the videos on the various playlists which are frequently updated.

in some of the videos you will see guides on how to use the various voice activated apps.

The term you are looking for is "Voice Actions" and it is included with the standard Google app Voice Search. However, you have to change language to English-US for it to respond to commands.

You can see the command list here:

Voice commands have improved well since Android 4.0 but Vlingo on the Note was very handy. S-Voice is just a rebranded version of Vlingo but still works well.

S-Voice also works much better than Siri which will no doubt give thegoodman sleepless nights.

Google Now in Jelly Bean is better again for voice search/voice actions:

I also found that using Ivona Text to Speech gives a very natural sounding voice for the device. It's available in the Play market, but the sound files can be quite large, so be aware if you're tight on space.
