I am about to buy a new t.v.Should I buy LCD or LED?
I have a digibox for my old t.v. and can record programs on it. Will I be able to use this with a new t.v. with built-in freeview?
Also, what's the difference between full hd and hd ready?
All this may seem simple to you but I am old!!

To quickly summerise:
LCD vs LED?
LED (light-emitting diode) TVs are actually a type of LCD (liquid crystal display) television. LCD HDTVs use standard compact fluorescent tubes to illuminate the picture. LED HDTVs, on the other hand, replace those fluorescent tubes with backlighting technology.
That said, if money is not an object, and you want crystal clear picture, I recommend LED. That is not taking anything away from LCD. Best bet is to go into the shop and see if you can notice the difference!
Full HD vs HD Ready?
Basically it comes down to screen resolution. (Screen resolution - HD ready = 720, Full HD = 1080).
I would recommend Full HD as HD ready TV cannot display high definition TV, it can only display at a slightly higher screen resolution than conventional TV. So, if you did have some media that was full HD, you would not be making the most of it on an HD Ready TV!
Hope this helps!0 -

Thanks very much, that really helps me.
Re my digibox recorder- will it work with a tv with built in freeview or do I need something different?0 -
Yes it will work, as it has it's own Freeview tuners installed (I assume you are talking about a twin tuner Freview PVR with a hard drive-you didn't give the model).
However, you won't get the Freeview HD channels unless you buy a TV with built in Freeview HD (not the same as a TV that is spec'd as 'Full HD'), or unless your PVR is an HD model. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Am looking at the box my new Technica HD ready 1080 LED came in.
So is it full or ready ?0 -
I wouldn't worry. If it's a Technika you'll be taking it back for a refund before long anyway...No free lunch, and no free laptop

If it fails to mention "Freeview HD" then it isn't.0
