Can someone suggest a replacement for my HTC desire?

So I'm up for a phone upgrade from my htc desire. I'd quite like to stay with an android phone (trying hard not to go to the apple dark side). The desire's been OK, but I'd like something that's a tad faster at opening apps, also a little smaller and lighter than the Desire's 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm. And something that has more internal memory that the paltry 512MB the desire has.
Basically something swift, small. With a half decent camera. And available in the UK. Any suggestions?

Just had another thought: in 12 months time 4G network and 4G phones will (probably) be widely available, making all the existing available 3G handsets look a bit poor. So if I get a 2 year contract, even if I do an early upgrade I'll have nearly a year with comparatively slow internet.
Or I could see that year as time for the networks and handset manufacturers to sort their issues out, and by the time I'm ready to upgrade in 2014 it should all be good. Unless I'm holding out for 5G! Maybe acting in anticipation of technology is not a good thing.0 -
but you can apply that to the phones as well - you could wait for the iphone5 but maybe the Galaxy S4 would be even better........or maybe the Iphone6.....

Go into a store and try out some of the phones that available now and see if any take your fancy.0
