We now have chickens :D. They were a somewhat spontaneous purchase, but I've always wanted some. We bought a coop from someone who makes them locally and I had quite a drive yesterday to pick up 4 lovely hens. They're settling in just now, so hopefully it won't be too long before we have lovely fresh eggs!

Still no sign of the mortgage statement, if other people have had theirs I might give them a call about it. There's no immediate hurry I would just like to see the long list of (tiny) OPs as encouragement!

I haven't touched our savings this month and plan to keep it that way, is actually starting to feel like their growing rather than going down!

I need to start thinking about Christmas presents... I've bought one already and need to think about what we can get everyone else. I've been setting a little aside every months for birthday/Christmas presents, I just hope it stretches far enough as we've had a lot of birthdays in the last few months!
  • Oooh chooks! I kept chickens for a while and miss the lovely eggs. I'm sure you'll enjoy keeping them.

I love them! We have eggs already too which is brilliant!

The mortgage statement arrived, it was a couple of hundred pounds lower than I'd calculated which was a pleasant surprise! However we have 1 year 7 months left on our fix and our rate is quite high (4.28%) so not great, but hey ho.

BG are still struggling to sort out the problems with our account. They decided to duplicate the account rather than fix the old one but it's just created more confusion for the system I think as it's flitting between the two accounts, neither of which is on the right tariff and I've totally lost track of everything which isn't helpful at all. I've tried emailing and calling but their system means that you can never get through to your allocated person directly, you either have to get somebody to email them and request a call back or you have to send an email to a generic address and have it forwarded to them!

Woolwich now have allow you to log in online to see your mortgage balance, total capital repaid, interest rate etc. which is fantastic. It's going to make it much easier to keep tabs on the balance as I don't have to spend ages trying to confirm details on the phone to an automated system!

Still no luck with BG. Can't get through to the person who I need and they haven't rung me back as requested, will have to try again if I hear nothing. Hope they sort it soon so I can switch after their prices going up so much!

    Ooooooo how hun?

I am going on a mega debt blasting mission and I want to overpay the mortgage again by £3k before we need to renew in July, seeing it online would help that a lot!

If we can get the mortgage under £100k I will be happy!

Glad you found it lilmissup! :)

It's made such a difference being able to view the mortgage online to keep a tabs on it. The only downside is that I can see the daily interest getting added on... it's creeped back up to £95,924.45 now.

I've made a big pot of sweet potato and coconut soup, hopefully it will last me the week for lunches and will be a bit healthier than rummaging in the cupboards.

I've got a quite a few days off work this week which is lovely, and I feel far more relaxed for it. Plus, it will give me a chance to do some much needed things around the house.

BG are still struggling to sort our account, I hope it doesn't go on for much longer as I really want to switch before the good fixes disappear.

A few pound of Quidco cashback OP'd.

Have finally started Christmas shopping, hoping to get my side of the family done in the next week or so as I have a rough idea what to get most of them.

Am going to get my hair cut today, it's been a few months since it's seen the scissors so as long as they do it nicely I won't begrudge the money. Will stop by at Morrison's today too if I can and see if I can pick up some bargains, I think they have some good prices on loo roll at the moment and my current stash is depleting!

Logging in and seeing your mortgage balance go back up because of ddaily interest is really disheartening. Ours finally hit the £95K's and is now back up n the £96K's... so I've just OP'd the odd and brought it back down to £95,999.99 :j

I'll log back in tomorrow and see how our daily interest makes it look!

Still not really sure what the plan is for us at the moment. Whether we want to buy a 2nd BTL, or save for a new house of our own and then use this house as a BTL once we've moved.

Ordered some stuff online and forgot to use Quidco, missed out on about £8 of cashback. Was furious with myself!

Mortgage balance currently at £95,535.28. Love being able to check it online now!

Still pondering over the future a lot, starting to wonder if we'd be better off saving for a new house ourselves then letting our current one in the future, rather than buying a 2nd BTL then selling this house and buying ourselves another. We're fixed til mid 2015 which would give us lots of time to save and bring the equity in this house high enough to get a (hopefully) decent BTL rate.

Also starting to think about having a family in the future. OH would be happy to have children now, however I would like to wait a little longer. So maybe next year... There's never really a right time from what I've been reading. I feel like we should save and save and save but really you're never convinced you have 'enough' money so as long as you're comfortable it isn't a bad time?

We also need to start eating healthier. I cook everything from scratch but have been cooking some dreadfully unhealthy (but very tasty!) things lately... HM deep dish pizza last night - my arteries are still recovering. I'm looking around for some new meal ideas now, it makes it a little harder have one veggie and one meat eater, but lots of adaptable recipes out there!

Have also been thinking that I would like to further my education a little. Work put me through a basic SVQ but I would like to move up to an HNC then possibly a degree so that I could have a career, rather than a job, but this would conflict a lot with having a family and probably cost a lot as my current job wouldn't include funding for anymore courses.

Just feel like I need a change... I've noticed that I always need something happening to keep me content, work feels like the next things that's due a change but I'd be really lucky to get another job with the same hours/location etc.
