SRS PPI Claim Company - Fraudulent?

I just got a call from a company called SRS "about my PPI claim from credit agreements", telephone number 01296 857 110.

She knew my name (didn't get any further than that). As soon as she said what she was calling about I said she shouldn't have my details and I hung up.

Has anyone had any contact from these people, or know who I should report this to? I'm not happy that they have my number and name, or that they are trying to get more info from me.

Cold calling claims companies are rife at the moment. A week doesnt seem to go by without one phoning me. I am TPS as well.

Anyone can get your name and number. Its public domain.

Fair dos. I've had plenty of texts before but never a phone call on my mobile. I shall just ignore.

As the banks gradually work their way through the job of refunding past sales, the prospect of genuine new claims being made in any significant numbers diminishes.

This will lead to an oversupply of claims 'services' being offered by an unsustainable number of claims firms. Whilst in their death throes they will resort to all sorts of desperate measures in order to try to prolong their already doomed business model.

If you look at the significant recent increases in the number of fraudulent and/or fictitious claims there is clearly evidence that this is already happening.

I doubt that these firms will care one jot about whether they are being compliant with their regulators rules when it is a matter of survival.

The sooner they are gone the better, although whatever bandwagon they next jump upon, to the detriment of both industry and consumers alike, remains a worry.

Just been called by SRS as well from 01788 498016. They also knew my name but obviously no idea that I've never ever signed up for PPI.

A bit of Google-fu reveals that they sells lists of potential PPI claimants to other people to then badger so they're kind of cold calling sales pre-qualification farm. http://ppileads.com (see the footer for link to SRS).

I just had a call from them today on my mobile. She seemed to know my first name but not much else. He was a welshman, very polite and, under different circumstances, possibly convincing. He claimed my details were given to SRS by Real Time Claims (an apparently respectable PPI claims company, looking on the web). He had no details himself though, as they "are confidential to myself". Confidential obviously doesn't include name, mobile number and the fact that I was missold PPI (which I wasn't).

Would have strung him along for a while but was a bit too busy at that moment.
