  • I have seen lamp oil in Hobby craft and our local hardware store does it as well but it is expensive at around £5.99 Ltr and so I buy mine from here http://www.candlesontheweb.co.uk/acatalog/Lamp_Oil_and_Accessories.html

4 quid a litre is still bloody expensive.

You do realise, that lamp oil is still paraffin?

Mardatha, I think you might need a sack barrow - the kind of thing old-time railway porters used to have (off-topic - there's three million unemployed but no one to carry your bags at stations - why can't some of them be employed to shift suitcases?) (OK, rant over) and that can be bumped up and down steps with your blue IKEA bags, or feed sacks or whatever.

I have to shift logs on a regular basis, and I've found that smaller amounts in a tub trug - big round plastic bendy bucket thing - are easier on the shoulders than a full wheelbarrow - but harder on the legs.

Umm, failing which you might have to set up your own mini power plant fuelled by chicken poop... that would save a bit on the electric! :rotfl:

Thx I need to go to hobbycraft anyway.
Just finished planting up in the garden. Went to a garden centre and they were selling pots of herbs 8 for £10 which I was very pleased to find.
Just seen on news that wheat will be imported this year for first time since 1980s, so food prices will go up again

    :)Evening,

Been lovely and sunny here again today (are we headed for a drought now me wonders?? It's been dry for a while, even though it's been bloomin frizzin). Only managed an hour at the Lottie as DD2 and littles came to visit this aft, but put more strawberries in an watered and mulched the fruit bushes. Someone was giving away a cherry tree they no longer wanted. Don't mind if I do thinks I:p, so now have another Cherry tree:j and my seed potatoes arrived at last, so will get them in soon.

Have decided to go car bootling tomorrow as weather looks ok(ish). Have loads of stuff to sell, so hopefully will get a bit of cash and look out for any preppery type goods whilst there, though won't be able to have a good mooch as I will be on my own - DS at his dad's and DD3 away visiting gran and other rellies, but will have a little look around neighbouring stalls.

    Take care all x

Dug out our sunken patio using a spade and old bucket. Neighbours asked me if I was building a swimming pool! Filled a skip load doing that, staggering through the back door of kitchen to the drive and up it... Heavy clay, no joke, everything ached afterwards.

MrBoo levelled it out as it was all over the place, even my old neighbour decided to have a go (it was awhile ago).

Jayne, good luck with the car boot - remember to bring some money home :D

D&dd that looks a good film, can we base our prepping on their idea's?:rotfl:

Am off to look at the weather for the next week and see if its worth actually planting anything. I miss Kittie and 2tonsils, they always kept us up on the weather :( Hope they are both ok.
