Ras thats very interesting about the quail, Ive heard they are quieter than chooks too. I have a two tier rabbit hutch that I used for my hens and they were very happy in there so I just need to find out the best kind of aviary type pen for them. Will have a ponder as we loved our hens and miss them.

I'll be hatching a batch soon (hopefully) so I'll let you know :rotfl: I also finally have rabbit babies!
As for permissions...ask me no questions I'll tell you no lies ;) I have landlord's permission for my dog and for a pair of rabbits. S'not my fault one of the rabbits changed sex...oopsie. And they're not quail, they're feral ground pigeons that wandered in to pinch rabbit food scraps.

I read this thread everyday and just realised i barely post on it though! I generally have enough food to last a few months in the house so food wise i'm not too worried! I do need to get more canisters for the camping stove so we can cook. I got 100 tealights in t's today for £2 for the stash. Need to stock up on more batteries and torches i think.

The only thing we would be stuffed with is heating really as we have gsh and no space for putting a woodburner in which i would love.

I've always wanted chickens but been worried about how much noise they make, may research the quails.

:p If anyone asks questions, put on your best daft girl expression and say summat like; But I thought they were thrushes!

I am toxic with a cold and feeling bleugh but am researching stuff on interwebulator. Never been less excuse for being ignorant, IMO.

I was thinking t'other day. Bad habit, I know, could get me in a lot of trouble. But thinking about how trouble doesn't send memos, nor does it get scheduled a year ahead and printed in your Letts burdundy faux-leather handbag diary. It doesn't ring you up ahead of time and declare that the gubment or the stock markets are planning to do something incredibly stupid on XYZ day, if that's all right with you?

Stuff just happens. The people who have insider knowledge will be manoevering as fast as possible to protect themselves, their families, their wealth and their health. The rest of us regular folks will be left looking around at the bouncing rubble and going W'happened?!

I think that would be a step too far, and people would cry fowl. :D

Chuckling at the silly puns. :)

I noticed today that £land have some of their summer camping gear in stock now, so a good time to stock up on preptastic outdoors stuff, if you need it.

Bedsit Bob, I didn't check to be honest, but when I go in with my knives to be sharpened at one and to buy candles at t'other, rest assured I will be checking!

The number of folk I know who keep chickens is rising by the week. 5 years ago there were one or two, but know I know of at least 30 households with several chickens each - that's a lot of eggs and poo!

I did a bit of non-food stock taking earlier and had a massive shock - I'm down to 4 x 4-packs of loo rolls! I felt rather faint, I can tell you. This week I will be mostly buying more loo roll. I'm ashamed to have let the side down. :o:D
