Thank you everyone for the chicken advice, I will visit the lets keep chickens thread and see if they have heard of this, brilliant idea, Cheers Lyn xxx.
Have had a little read around and it seems that it is illegal to feed kitchen scraps now, and if one of your birds dies it is illegal to bury it in your garden or cremate it, it has to be taken to a hunt kennel, a knackers yard or a proper incinerator so I think I won't get any more chickens although I did find that you have to register them with DEFRA if you have 50 or more in your flock but not if you have less than 50, Lyn x.0 -
Have just finished reading "Last Light" and enjoyed it so much I have just ordered the sequel.
Enjoying having all dds home for a few days but never seem to stop cooking. At least it seems to be appreciated.
Must remember to put clocks forward tomorrow and think we might be going out for the day so need to throw together a few bits to eat and drink in case we get stuck in traffic or everywhere is closed.
Can't wait for a proper Spring and Summer but not holding my breath and trying to take things as they come and make the best of things.
Hugs to all and hoping for warmth to blow away the germs and lift our spirits."This site is addictive!"

Mrs L, my next door neighbour, a retired farmer, used to keep bantams, and whenever one looked a bit poorly, he would give it to his son for his ferrets. So if you know anyone who's got ferrets....0 -
I did propose a Doomsday book club for everyone to report on good, bad and indifferent books that they have read. What does eveyone think? It would be informative if you could post short review so that we dont waste time looking for useless books.
I'd definitely be interested in a Doomsday book club! I LOVE End of the World novels0 -
Am enjoying a lovely visual of Mrs L skulking in her garden at 2am in full black prowler gear and a black balaclava...carrying a shovel and a dead (chicken) body :eek:
And then one of the curtain-twitchers is on the hotline to the fuzz and they descend on her in white vans and start with the ground-searching radar and dig up her garden looking for bodies...
And then Sky News arrives with the Sky Copter and its front page news with pics from Google Street View....
oooooo the drama ! :rotfl:
And we can all be interviewed and will say "oh she always seemed such a nice quiet ordinary lady.... she made a lot of pies...." and then they'll start digging harder... :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

It would be one way of getting the garden dug over0 -
Were you watching MAR? Dammit the secret is out, actually we could just leave any corpus christies out in the garden and one of the local fox population (of whom there are many) would get a free supper, 'bout the pies - my pastry is definately the type you make bricks from, so all my pies would do is make the local dentists rich!!!!! Have a lovely Easter my friends, make some relaxy time for yourselves, and specially for Mar Happy Imbolc!!!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

BBrain hope all is well
Lyn blimey its getting to be a bit of a minefield even backyard chicken owning now..do they really have to over regulate everything??
Hope you're feeling a bit more chipper today Mar I'm happy with my own company but thats when I'm still able to potter about in the garden and get stuff done still, must be getting to be a bit wearing on the soul all that bad weather now even when you can cope XX
Been out with Rosiedog and DS3 and just pondering how to transport a load of nicely dried cowpats back home..DS3 was horrified at the thought :rotfl: any suggestions?? I don't have a wheelbarrow as the gardens not big enough.
Also how long do I have to 'mature' them for before adding to the compost/garden? Waste not want not eh0 -
Not sure how long you'v got to mature 'em D&DD, but if you'v got a shopping trolly you can take the bag off and use the frame with a cardboard box on it for trasporting the pat's back home.£71.93/ £180.000
