Well our snow has gone, apart from on the far hills. Wind is still howling and boat moored up still, but things are getting back to normal for us.
Hope everyone is safe and well - i'm going to have a good clean and tidy today - back to work tomorrow

snow goggles. It's not snowing here at the mo but there is still a ton of the white stuff underfoot and banked up all round. Yesterday the wind was whipping up the snow, today it is whipping up icey snow. It is practically impossible to walk against the wind unless you have your eyes shut. :D Will see if my diy goggles are any good. If not, goggles are next on the list. :(

Well it has stopped snowing now but the roads are really dangerous, there have been alot of accidents.

Still bitterly cold though and that wind would go through you as my old dad would say.

We watched the young guy facing us trying to walk down the road , he was sliding all over the place. So I dont think we will go out in that.

I think the OH would just like to go for a walk as he hates having to stay in and its been a week since hes been his walk.

Keep having to remind him hes 67 and if he falls it will take longer to heal.

Having been making a list of what we have used since last Monday and when it is safe to go out we will replace all we have used plus extras.
We havent run out of anything so that was good.

Same here - blowing snow hellish wind and too cold to even think about going out. We've got cabin fever!! maybe we should all go and get "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang" at the library and really get into the mood :D
  • PINEAPPLE that is such a good idea, I find that the cold wind makes my eyes water so much these days that I just cannot see where I'm going, why didn't I think of snow goggles? You are so clever, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Well TV has it's uses I suppose (apart from being a fee grabbing tool of the reptilian elite :D).
Watching Ade in Britain, I saw a bit about soda farls as a traditional Irish food. I make soda bread in the oven but haven't had farls in years! Soda farls are basically thinnish soda bread wedges cooked on the hob. I've found my heavy cast iron pan does the job and it saves putting on the oven. :T. It might even work on a (clean) reasonably hot multifuel stove top. ;)

  • CRAIGY we have a Gelert Large Single Burner that attaches to one of the big blue camping gaz containers. It just screws on and is big enough to take a full sized pan or kettle. The gas cylinder is blue and is about the size of a 1 gallon can. We had a 2 burner Aladdin camping stove that we used to run on this cylinder but that got old and we gave it away on freecycle. You can buy the bigger cylinders from hardware shops but you have to pay a largish deposit and then buy the gas, The plus side is once you have paid the deposit you can trade your empty gas container in for another full one at only the cost of the gas. A good source of supply for empty containers was the recycling centre, I don't know if they still do them but it might be worth a look, hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.
