I'm gonna have to get a headlamp to shine into the eyes of the enemy I think. or perhaps I could fashion one out of a tealight and some paracord *thinks*

I have a rolling pin and a pinny (but not a creepy adult sized schoolgirl pinafore like in the picture on the prev page!) but what I really want (also in the prev pictures) is a bomb shelter....

When we move to the States we've been looking at the missile silo's, man I want one so bad I can taste it (tastes like metal chicken), DH is very enthusiastic about it, I do hope we buy one. They have one on 20th Century castles with a swimming pool. Reduced to under a mil and a half - bargain!

That will be an adventure...you'll have to give an American view of the situation and stay in touch...

Think it was mentioned on the lunchtime news on Radio 4 but the media have hardly mentioned it and this is one of the reasons many have no idea what is going on.
Many are wallking into the times ahead blindly...

Farming Today would perhaps run this type of story. Or the Food Programme. Other than R4, I dont think anyone else will bother.

They've probably been told not to broadcast it widely because it has the potential to start a panic. That would be my guess, anyway.

I always seem to be awake for the Farming programme these days and for the other programmes you mention...I learn so much not that it is good to hear such dire news...

Can you please stop fighting over Peter and get serious girls:rotfl::rotfl: can't wait for the next farm series, from a purely historical interest perspective not for Peters muscly arms and cheeky smile, reminiscent of David Essex.

So the universal badge of the MSE Preppers/ Zombie homeguard - camo pinny, rolling pin and para cord bracelet? I really have to get some cord and make those bracelets! Then I wandered around the shop that sold the cord and there were lots of terribly interesting things but I resisted :(

I thought doomsday preppers hadnt started till next week ? Oh I really wanted to watch that, Im sure it will be on another day. I have been glued to 'the Doomsday scenario' on sky, it was really interesting but they didnt show a single person who was prepared for the slightest emergency sadly - you know like the sun burning out, the world stopping spinning and the population doubling :eek:

Realised I have no candles other than tealights to brew up - bad ginny. But I do have a headlight and matches.

  • It might be worth remembering that the government ( before the start of WW2) advocated getting stores going. Then because some people did this rather too well, rationing was introduced and lasted for many, many years. Yes a few days or even a week or two stocks is prudent, anything more than that on any sort of larger scale, will result in shortages that will trigger rationing. In my opinion a good thing, as the poor cannot afford to stockpile, they barely have enough to last from week to week.:( OK for those with resources to have months of supplies, but please consider those on severely restricted funds, or simply don't have the grow your own, demolish the supermarket etc or simply cupboard/freezer whatever storage.
