    :D You is BAD.

I now have a stainless steel cutlery drainer (bootsale, 50p). What were people doing with them, again?

whoop! you can make a food warmer hobo stove wood burner thing out of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djlzhiw_Gyk or fashion some head gear to guard against solar flares.

GQ, a spot of camo netting on the relevant side makes great greenhouse shading. So now all you need is a greenhouse for your lottie...

I'm having a lot of trouble now parting with big tins into the recyling, never mind cutlery drainers... this isn't helping with my hoarding problems! Wouldn't be a problem if I didn't already own 2 cast-iron potbelly BBQ stoves, two of the little camping "suitcase" stoves and enough emergency cooking/waterheating solutions to sink a battleship... all comes of going through 2 Christmasses in a row with 7 or more people in the house and NO BOILER! :rotfl:

:p I've only got it in olive drab but then whaddaya expect when you're shopping at the Army Surplus. I'm inordinately fond of surplus stores and still wish I could think of a good reason for owning camo netting. Haven't managed to find one yet.........:rotfl:
But if anyone can source coloured paracord, it would be a community service to post it on this thread.

I've also added a few more cheap pillar candles to the emergency supplies.

    Keep on prepping, people.;)

Our local £oundland has some paracord in the lighter 'urban' camo colours, they call it "Utility Rope" and 20m x 4mm is good value.

Also saw 'church' type candles the big fat ones in there as well.

I just nipped into mr a for some rolls and came out with 12 smart price tins of rice pudding, 2 s p tins of sardines(will get more in the week) and a bit of fresh fruit. I also convinced dh that getting some B!st0 cheese sauce would be a good idea because he likes those packets of broccoli and cheese pasta things. I have plenty of pasta and dried broccoli in my stores so just need to chop the broccoli a bit finer.

I did look for rice pud when in mr s but they did not have any basics.

Mar i keep trying to knit socks but get stuck, im sure once ive done one it will flow but my brain hurts trying to work it out:o. I might beg you to tell me how to do it, i could barter sweeties.

Are you coming to the Edinburgh Ikea meet? I can perhaps help you with the socks as long as they're not some fancy cabled or lace pattern. I knit a lot of socks but they're only plain ones, on four or five needles.

Just a thought re stocking up...in the last big snows we were wanting sweet stuff all the time so I made a lot of packets of Value custard over that fortnight, with a big blob of HM jam in the middle. It was especially good when the kids came in cold from playing in the snow and it doesn't take much gas, you just have to boil the water for it.

  • I've been tidying my kitchen cupboards and trying to sort out my stash. I bought 6 tins of tesco value mushy peas and 6 tins of tesco value rice pudding.

I baked a second batch of bagels and they were far more successful than last nights. I've also got a chocolate chilli cake in the oven at the moment. I cant smell anything over the puppy. He is farting the place out! He stinks!!
