I second that. Lofty is brilliant.
I have a copy of 'On next to nothing' too, it's a useful little book. Given the interest in useful books, would it be at all useful to list the ones in our collections that might interest all of us? If the prices are as low as 1p it might be a good time to add to the library of knowledge and reccomendations from fellow preppers are reliable, if anyone would like I'll post the best of my collections titles later on,Cheers Lyn xxx.

Yes please MrsL. That's a great idea.

Have been to the accident and emergency and thank goodness nothing is broken. But I have to wear a sling for a week then go back and have it checked out again.

Just seen a new comment by Piers Corbyn the weather man...he seems to think that the cold/snow will hit Sunday/Monday then continue into the extreme blizzards, in Europe, the UK and in America. He says the storm hitting the USA now is nothing compared to what is coming!

2T - get well soon. And keep up the good work on the weather info.

    Stay warm everyone.

Better news 2T, I am happy to see...They have me on Laprazole too but I take blood pressure tablets, steroids, immune suppressents and water tablets and a weekly tablet for my bones.

Yes they are going on about the snow storm about to hit the North East Of the States saying how bad it will be but when shown on TV every year they all seem pretty bad. This one is supposed to be particularly bad though...

That is the bulk of my collection, the book I think is most use to me is Self Reliance as well as the Survival Handbook by Michael Allaby already mentioned. I also have several Survival Handbooks, Ray Mears, S.A/S etc, but probably you already have these so I haven't listed them.

Hope this is some use to you all, Cheers Lyn xxx.

I also have quite a number or original and repro Wartime Cookery Books which I find really useful for cobbling meals together from 'What I have' that would also be of great use if we ever had problems and some 'Make Do and Mend' Books that would do the same, Lyn x.

Have got really bad thunderstorms here again...time to unplug....hope you all have a lovely weekend and stay warm in the snow that is forecast for Sunday and Monday.

I was only at the hospital for an hour, straight in, examined, two xrays then had the sling put on......great service for a health service that is struggling on with no money and no wages.... Good looking Greek doctors as well...it does have some advantages living here...:A

Just had the worst, longest hail storm I have ever seen. It left a couple of inches of snow on the ground all through the village and its just starting again by the sounds of it. The cars are all struggling..

I am not sure if this link will work, but if not I will load some tomorrow and put them on.

    Hello all

Get better 2T, at least with your preps you don't need to venture out in that.

Thanks for the list Mrs LW; I have at least half of those, and tons of gardening & cookery books. Have been busy working but can catch up more next week as it's half term... And with all the bad weather predicted I've stocked up even more so I don't need to venture out.

Got a nice little mini wind-up LED key ring torch from Wilk's today, which is now with my keys. Only £1.50 and very impressed with the brightness. Now part of my EDC. Also found wand lights, and a 5-in-1 torch, compass, mirror, match holder and fire starter & whistle (no bigger than those small torches you can get), plus emergency poncho (next to camping stuff) although I can't remember the prices of those....

    :)

Pretty reasonable prices, but, priceless for prepping peace of mind.

Take care all and hope you stay safe in this coming weather.

Wow Mrs L thanks for that - guess who's off to amazon to spend money now - will tell the RV it's ALL YOUR FAULT ;)
Sorry I not been in for a bit, busy in other things. But I have a kitchen full to bursting so we don't have to go out this week at all. I even have emergency sweeties :D

And now for something a bit odd...
I needed a new lamp/light source. I couldn't afford anything to match with existing yet didn't want something that would clash. I ended up with a globe that rests on a slightly flattened base. It has a wonderfully peaceful effect - I feel I should be chanting 'Om...' Seriously I'm wondering if it's because the shape is reminiscent of the sun that it resonates with something deep down.... :D. I think I need more of these. :)
Light icing sugar dusting of snow here. Nothing dramatic yet.
