I've one kitten who brings in doves, another who brings in small birds, a grown up cat who regularly hunts sausages and chicken carcasses and a very pretty, fluffy kitten who seems to know where the discarded fish bits are....and she's regularly deposits them just behind the hall curtains. (there's a chap about 4 streets away who has a seafood van, I'm assuming she's learnt where he lives). Not the best of diets (considering DH is allergic to seafood/shellfish, potentially very messy) but they try and pull their weight bless them.
My parents have two cats (sisters) and they do all the usual cat-stuff regarding hunting and also bring in stray food objects which we think they steal from the neighbours but have been too embarrassed to ask.
Pizza and sausages, chiefly. They don't eat them, just carry them indoors and leave them around the floor like trophies. Once heard of a cat who fetched in a filched Yorkshire pudding complete with gravy in it's well. And very proud of herself.
ETA Mrs LW, back in the pioneer days of the West, buffalo chips (dung) were a regular fuel. I've heard that the burning of dried dung is a serious cause of lung disease in some parts of the world, and women are propprtionally more affected as they're the ones indoors doing the cooking.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Probably not a good idea.
Burning cow pats produce a lot of smoke, which is hazardous if inhaled.
It's sad that I know this stuff. :embarasse0 -

Rays Weather Page Ireland
***SEVERE WEATHER WARNINGS***
A very strong and vigorous jetstream over Ireland during the first half of this week.
Wind
Very strong winds expected between now and Wednesday. Tonight Northern Ireland (especially North Coasts) and Scotland will see extremely windy conditions. Winds could become damaging. Scotland will take a severe battering.
Tomorrow the strong winds will spread southwards but won't be as strong as those that will hit Scotland in the next 18 hours. However winds will have the potential to cause some destruction or damage especially in the North and East on Tuesday afternoon. Due to wind direction, trees and some structures may that have withstood strong westerly winds may be more vunerable to northerlies.
Severe Windchill
A cold N/NW airflow will engulf the Country early this week and while actual temps will not be severely low, but exposure to the very strong winds will make it feel several degrees lower creating a severe wind chill. Livestock farmers and pet owners need to be aware of this where early spring lambs, other farm animals and pets are concerned. 0 degrees and strong wind is not something any animal should be exposed too !
Showers and Snow
Bands of wintry showers will be pushing down across the Country from time to time and while temps are a little to high in the daytime hours, snow may settle at night. Winds could become very blustery and conditions extreme in the showers and its certainly not the type of thing you want to be caught out in the open in.
Blizzard conditions will occur in heavy snow showers and any lying snow at night will drift.
Black Ice
Places where surfaces are wet will freeze over quickly at night in the strong winds where air temps drop to 0 or below. Ice will not be easy to spot as winds will prevent white frost from forming. Roads that look wet could be actually glazed in ice, so watch out for this.
Any slush from wintry showers will also quickly glaze over at night.
Northern half of the Country will take the worst of the showers but all places will be at risk from time to time and it looks as if the SE will fair out best from these.
Hail and thunder in the mix is also very possible.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

A lot depends on the part of the world you're in. In India dried cow pats are a regular fuel for the fire, however in West Bengal they've been linked with arsenic poisoning as this concentrates in the fodder crops and therefore in the dung (naturally present in the underlying rock strata).
Knowing stuff like that could be a life saver.0 -
I wonder just how wide the knowledge we collectively posess is? It is a source of wonder that we all, from our diverse and multiple experiences in life seem like a practical encyclopedia of old fashioned methods and solutions to problems and the practicalities of daily life in a less technological world. I think it's amazing what we do have answers for, and lovely that we have new contributors adding new things all the time, long may it continue, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
