  • Hi,
We finally got round to sorting our Wills last year (they are free if you are a member of UNISON, or your partner is, i assume other unions are the same?).
My parents have discussed their wishes and where all important papers are, only problem is my dad keeps moving the stuff to a "safer" place so i get regular updates :rotfl:. In the last few months they have also arranged for my Bruv and I to have power of attorney if anything happens.
So far the day hasn't been too bad, rain is still lurking in the clouds rather than landing on my soggy, pondlike garden:o.

    Siegemode big hugs for you.
    Take care all

We've got showers of horrible splattering rain and a fair bit of snow still lying along the dykes. Ground is saturated and farmers all out fixing drains, we had a river running down the field behind us yesterday. Wettest year ever. Wonder how many folk are now preppers because of flooding.

I have seen a trailer on Sky for a new programme, called Revolutions (I think) about a post apocalyptic diasaster, ?massive EMP hitting earth. Might be of interest to any preppers who like that kind of thing.

i've been waiting for this show, can't wait til it's here. i just finished watching the series Jericho which is based off a similar concept and really enjoyed it so this should be right up my alley

the weather here now isn't too bad but the last few days some of teh wind gusts have been so strong it was like a high speed train passing right next to the building

should be interesting to say the least :(

  • ;)hi everyone :) I have missed being here so much. Will try to catch up on all the posts.
Our laptop stopped working and was not fixable so we had to buy a new one. Then we had to wait a week for it to arrive at the shop.
Then I was unwell and got depressed and now am getting better and here I am today.
Do a little kindness every day.;)

Hope you continue to feel better.
I get depressed when the laptop plays up or breaks down too. Its a lifeline to the outside world. Can't bare not being able to understand or fix it without hours of trial and error fiddling. Persiverance and determination has got me through so far. I feel so lost without it and it frightens me that I feel this way. I'm a right mardy without it. I have my phone but my eyesight is getting worse and I really frustrated it drives me nuts.

Not had time to catch up so just read the last couple of posts.

Just wanted to update about BIL as ev1 has been so nice about it. We really thought he was going last week, and both the nurses and Dr's were convinced he would not survive more than a few days, BUT he is still here and fighting. He came off the ventilator for a day, but due to infection in one lung he is back on-but via a tracheotomy tube to let his throat rest. He is speaking with difficulty and making alot more sense than he did before the operation.

Whats weird is when he was sedated in emergency care at first we just assumed he was well out of it. But his first words were about how he knew ev1 thought he was going to die as he knew we were all standing around his bed crying and talking. He said he really thought he was on his way when the priest came to bless him. He even had a little joke with OH, although laughing gave him a coughing fit and some pain, but at least there is some more hope.
The ward sister said they are calling him the miracle man as he is still here.

His kidneys have now kicked back in which they never thought would happen, and the part of his pancreas left from the op, that they thought was dying, has stabalised so making it easier for them to support him with drugs in the future. He still has a long way to go, his liver and gall bladder have reduced function, he is diabetic, has a permanent stoma bag and will be on a load of drugs and as the Dr said will have a degree of disability all his life. But there now is a chance he will both survive and have some kind of future-providing he stays off the drink of course.

Still a long way to go for him, but things look so much more positive.

Thanks for all the support guys, keep prepping!

So very glad for you Ali, here's hoping the improvement continues and he can come off the booze. At any rate the physical withdrawal is behind him already

The weather's not too bad here either-certainly not as bad as forecast.

We finally made wills last year and gave both DDs a copy.I do need to get DH to list things like life insurance, pension schemes etc although it is all in the filing cabinet so it would just be a matter of going through the files.

I've always had my own bank account so could survive for a while if anything happened to DH. One of my uncles had a stroke in the 1970s and his wife-who was only in her 50s-didn't even know how to write a cheque.

Oh that is so much better news to read, though as said a long way to go...I have always thought often we know what is happening.

I got very upset and annoyed that the morning my Mum passed away a care assistant at the home said in front of Mum that Mum was going to die. No doubt she probably heard that:(

If I need lots of medical care and I could I wonder if I will be as strong or just give in...

I hope we continue to hear further good news, however long it takes...
