No more earthtremors here today thank goodness. It was lovely sunshine but freezing in the shade and in the wind. Had a really busy day today, I worked online for the real estate agent then this afternoon I got in a ton of wood and stacked it, with a friend who offered to help. It made the job a lot easier to have help and we got through it quickly. The problem is that it has to be dumped in the street outside, then we pick it up, carry it up five steps and through the house to the back patio where we carry it up another five steps to stack it.
I think we might have a bit of frost tonight as its really cold now the sun has gone down.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and that the weather turns out to be beautiful instead of the horrible weather you have had.
Right, off for a hot shower to ease my aching muscles off! Then a couple of hours in front of the television doing absolutely nothing....not even think lol“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. I got very upset and annoyed that the morning my Mum passed away a care assistant at the home said in front of Mum that Mum was going to die. No doubt she probably heard that:(
...
That is absolutely reprehensible! I do hope she was severley berated for doing so, either by yourself, or by her superior.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

katholicos, I think I was taken aback by losing Mum a couple of hours later(whether her hearing that helped her give up the fight who knows)and to be honest I never went back to the Nursing Home once Mum was no longer there. There is still a vase and a duvet there that belongs to me but is it worth going back for either, probably not."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. :T ALI, good news about your BIL, it's amazing how some people defy the odds, may he continue to improve.
Nice to see you again, margaret.Pops, that care worker was beyond ignorant as well as cruel. When I was taught first aid (by a senior fire officer) we had it stressed to us that hearing is the last sense to go and the first to return and never to assume that what you say around someone isn't making a difference.
He was a big strong macho man and he told us about how he'd been injured at the scene of a fire in such a way that he was only semi-conscious and couldn't see (he recovered fully btw). And how utterly important it had been that another firefighter had stayed with him and held his hand and talked to him, even though he wasn't capable of responding.
So, even if someone is badly hurt or very close to death, assume that they can hear you and that words of comfort and reassurance may make all the difference.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

2T, Only knowingly experienced one ET. Not in a hurry to experience another. Mum, bless her did not even notice(think she slept thrugh it)
I thought something strange had happened but it was verified by someone in a radio studio in London where chairs had moved...i think it originated in the midlands. So quite a distance from London and here. Still felt it though."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

They can be quite unnerving! Often we just hear the roof and doors creaking during the night with them, but as my OH says..if they are creaking they are giving and flexing and not to worry. I worked in town years ago on the fourth floor and we had one and the whole building was swaying from side to side.
The worst one was while we were eating at an outdoor table, I saw my OH's chair rise in the air, then the table then my chair, it was just like a wave had gone under the pavement. Sometimes they can make you feel very nauseous and that is awful. I often get a pressure headache or go light headed if we are going to get them. This cold dry weather with sun is when we usually get them....“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. GQ, As I said many months ago, there must have been some knowing of what was happening as 90 minutes before Mum passed away, I managed to get a small drink into her which she enjoyed and she gave me the strongest kiss I have ever had in my life and it took all her strength, I don't think she could have done that again...
I suspect it was her way of saying goodbye but also she probably knew she was going..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
