I think a kelly kettle might be good for picnics since you would not need to worry about carrying gas with you. Come to think of it it would be useful if you lived in the back of beyond and got stuck in snow in your vehical. You could at least heat water for a hot drink and if you happened to have a pop bottle or something to hold water you could make a makeshift hot water bottle. I have done this when camping last year on the North York moors. It was summer but I forgot how cold it can get up there and it was -4 during the night.

This is good idea, grandma. I do worry about getting caught in the snow. One of my nightmares is being stranded on the M8 overnight, as happened in Dec 10 (not to me). I have some birthday money to spend, so I may invest in a kelly kettle.

Quite what I am going to use my headlight for I don't know :rotfl: But it seemed like a good idea and when I found one for £3.99, I had little choice but to buy it :rotfl: QUOTE]

Have you ever tried to wash up in the dark during a power cut? One hand just will not do :)

Don't mean to go too far off topic, but do you ever find that people misread your Stopped Smoking Wed as Stopped Smoking Weed, by any chance?

Or is that just me that thinks that way?

    :D

No, it's not just you, I take a double look even now...and I know what PAH means, sorry PAH...:D

Anyone see the news that 100 people evacuated from their homes in Manchester because of a fire... Wonder how many had Go Bags?

Could happen anytime - must get mine properly together.

Dh got a new toy today, a flame device for burning weeds, he is a happy boy with a gadget! :rotfl:
Anyway his idea is it will come in handy if the power goes out and we need a bit of fire! Barmy I know. This might not sound like progress but it really is! Either that or he was appealing to my prepper side to get what he wanted?! :p
Mind you he didn't bat an eyelid at the tea mountain I bought today, although the shop assistant was fascinated!
