Really sad - we were in those hills last week and had a day skiing locally a few days before. There's been avalanche warnings for Bidean nam bian since Christmas and yesterday/today has been really windy, even by our standards. The mountain rescue team are heroes.0

By the way I hadnt read the previous posts when I thanked Kittie and 2tonsils, they were not showing. it was a genuine thank you. And yes we do check on our neighbours, I also have friends who know they can come here if in need and am currently a carer for a friend with mental health problems as his partner has had to go back to South Africa as her parents are very ill. I think many of our friends on here have mentioned over the past week or so how they are supporting friends and neighbours who reciprocate in other ways. We also check on each other if we go missing from posting and several members have offered to come and help me whilst Oh was in hospital a while ago.
thanks Mrs LW am off for a long soak in the tiny tub now then sort out hubby and an early night.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

I hasn't been windy over here at all WCS. I know it's been bad where you are though cos I was talking to the inlaws earlier.
Nice to "see" you btw :hello:0 -

get the facts right 2T. I presume you don`t get the full paid forecast plus all the updates.
What did I say that was not factual there? You presume right I don't have the money to pay for the forecast and updates. But he made that part of the forecast public so everyone could be warned and be prepared.. He says that clearly on the site and he sent out a message to his friends on facebook.
I will say no more on the subject, I was trying to warn people to be ready for more bad weather much the same as I am going to prepare for it coming to Greece. Not all of us can afford the paid for forecasts and he did make this public and unpaid so he could warn people.
As for scaremongering, I was actually sharing facts....and this IS the SHTF thread. No more from me...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

Nice to see you too - do you have snow? Isn't it odd how our weather is so different when we're only 30 miles of coastline away???? Haven't been up for a while as have been travelling to hospital in the city monthly - be great to get together for coffee one day!0 -

This is a very important update....do you remember the other day I mentioned a strange message from Piers Corbyn warning that he saw a huge event happening that would impact the weather in Europe (and other places) within a few days...and impact world weather for years to come?
I am gobsmacked to say the big event has happened....this is the first report on it that have found. The big weather event will be an enormous storm in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. If you go to the last map you can see the projected path takes in Ireland and part of the UK, France, the channel and Spain. This is a genuine report and I am sure that more will come soon. Parts of Europe are going to be impacted with severe storms and huge waves.

He was predicting killer storms at the tail end of 2007 and nothing happened:

Sounds rather similar to what he's saying now.0 -

Portugal is already getting 80km winds and 10 meter storm surge waves from the system.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Surely many aspects of prepping and the reasons for it as is debated and talked of on here could be described as scaremongering but I for one would rather know of all the various predictions and senarios. I value everyones opinion including yours kittie and 2tonsils so please keep them coming. Whilst some may turn out to be wrong they all count and only time will tell. Surely it enables us to prepare for the worse and if things are better than first expected fine, if not then all our preps will hopefully see us through. I'm sure many like myself often pass info gleened from this thread to friends and family so everyones input is valuable. Thanks Everyone :beer:0
