Slainte mhath preppers- hope we all surfacing slowly this new year's morning
Loving this thread, so much commonsense, fun and good tough people all on one page.
I think right now our own govt seems to be Public Enemy No1 and the main reason for prepping, zombies haven't got a look in! I think as GQ says the money situation is going to affect everybody and it won't be a peaceful calm year.
My resolutions this year are -
Cut down the food bill (again lol) but this time stick to it.
Build up my stash of cash.
Cut even further our use of electricity.

Happy new Year all was busy last night dealing with a meltdown by OH and Dgs having a bad night but alls well now. I had chocolate for breakfast -simply because I can :rotfl: bu**er the resolutions, I make mine all year, Mar is right we all need to batten down the hatches ...again... Im concentrating on cash too, less the shtf -again. And making lots of warm things, emergency things and generally honing my supplies. this weeks shopping will be courtesy of a gift voucher for M&S plus a money off voucher thus freeing my cash for better use.
Theres one thing I really really want this year, some nice weather so I can do my veggie growing. The LL is replacing all our hedges with fencing which will make my life so much nicer and easier. I struggle to cut them and we have a long back garden, the kids end up doing them when they can and they always are overgrown which makes the garden a messy place. They are also putting a driveway on the front so I wont have to risk us slipping when we cross the grass verge to the car :j OH had a serious slide yesterday and nearly fell. I will be able to load and unload the car really easily :j I am crazily happy at the thought of it all. Small things to some but huge to me.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

I've got what I wanted already, One wash load out on the LINE!!!! and another one in the machine waiting to finish. Isn't is wonderful what a dry day and a bit of sunshine do for morale?
MAR I will definately be joining you in the effort to lessen cash departure and use less electricity and gas. I also agree with GINNY and would relish a drier and warmer spring and summer to help with the veg and fruit growing. It's a good start to the year here, let's hope it continues that way, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Happy New year to one and all! Was up till 4am celebrating both the Greek new year then the British one two hours later. I was on soda water as I was driving home.
Looking forward to this year as I am optimistic that I will be able to deal with whatever gets thrown at us. I managed to get through 2012 and came out smiling despite everything so that makes me feel better about coping. Carrying on with all the prepping, but more so. Learning new skills and picking up on some old ones that I let lapse for years.
No matter what the powers that be do to us, we will be able to cope by supporting each other through this forum and friendships.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Oh yes please, I tried a small line of washing and then proceeded to do the 'hokey cokey' in, out , in out, gave up in disgust and threw it all on the maiden.
