aaaaaargh dropped my mobile phone down the loo (before use I hasten to add!) so now have it sitting in a big bowl of rice to see if that helps it dry out a bit. any old styler prepper thoughts on getting a smart phone to work again once it's been submerged?! :D

If you haven't already done so, remove the battery. Also remove the SIM and any memory card.
Leave the back off the phone, while its in the rice (silica gel packets or dessicant sachets work even better). About every hour change the angle the phone is sitting in the rice in order to facilitate drainage. If you have one, place the bowl of rice with the phone in an airing cupboard or other warm place.

Tomorrow lunchtime, take the phone out of the rice and place it on a folded paper towel, if there is no moisture on the towel after 20 minutes then try putting the battery in and switching it on. If it doesn't power up, try removing the battery and just connecting the charger, if this works then put the battery back in and reconnect the charger. (If this then fails, you may need a new battery) If it doesn't power up then give it another 24 hours in a warm place.

Knowledge learned the hard way, revived three out of five phones, one of the fails was revived by a local phone shop the other became jewelry.
    Good luck
  • Oh NOO, oh no!!!!!! DD2 did this some months ago, still can't explain how. I'll contact her and see if she did anything else other than the good sense offered by Nuatha. Good Luck!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

The best prezzie for me would be to invite that bloke with the teeth..y'no..from Boring Dancing..the dancing moosh who does that show, where the contestants have to fit in a hole :p with them all from the HofP! The pool behind will automatically send those who don't do the hole, to a work capability assessment so they have to prove entitlement to their place as an mp. The hole itself will be incredibly tight & covered in stuff like utility bills, till receipts & basic living costs that have to be paid from a super restricted budget or you fall in the pool too.
Hey Ch4/5..I thought of this & claim my share to all profits made from airing this show :rotfl:

They would never get through the hole surrounded by bills and receipts here...we have to save every single receipt we get throughout the year....last year I had four shoe boxes packed full of them and this year we have even more. We have to prove how much we have spent and where (of our own money) in order to get a tax allowance. Although next year the tax allowance will be zero we still have to save all the till receipts and no one has been able to explain why to me yet...

It has looked very stormy here today but it was a bit warmer at 15 degrees daytime (minus two at night). Tomorrow is 19 in the day which will feel like summer but once more we have the strong thunderstorms coming this way.

I looked up the weather in Northern Greece as we were hoping to go over Christmas and its better than here...only 8 in the day and minus one at night but SUNSHINE for the whole week forecast. So IF the ferries are running and not on strike and have fuel then we will be going for a trip to enjoy ourselves in a nice hotel:T

Off to a Christmas feast tomorrow night and seasonal theme karaoke..should be fun as long as I don't get any gluten by mistake at the restaurant. Will be taking my tablets with me just in case though lol.

Have a lovely weekend folks...off to watch the Preppers on YOu tube....:rotfl:

looks like a good idea, and a cheap one too if your washing machine decides to conk out, and you got to get rid of it, you might as well take the drum out of it ( this is the main part the scrapies want;)):D

no, no, no, the S in this equation is brown not white and very smelly, you definitely don't want this S to hit the fan ;)

You've described what the snow looks like here in Edmonton. It comes down white, gets ploughed and sanded and then freezes into brown lumps that don't melt until April/May.
