Ah, St Spiridon, that brings back happy memories of a holiday in Corfu in 1988.
I think an offer of thanks would be a good idea, all help is welcome, just to be on the safe side.
I've just realised I'm working on 21st.... I'd much rather be at home for such a momentous dayEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I was wandering about the thread looking for info on vaccuum sealing, then wandered about you tube from one of the links and it left me planning my assault on the New Year. My dehydrating is going very well and am really pleased with my investment. I intend to do a lot more basics after Chrimbo as I am struggling to stand chopping veg etc due to pain so if I prep while I can and dry it all I will be way ahead of the game. The link the other day for sawdust candles as a heat source to take the chill off the room is a great cheap idea for me as I was struggling to think of ways to heat the room. So thank you whoever posted it. I am looking for some big tins to make them in - not huge and a trivet to stand them on - will look in the cs's for trivets they always have them.
I intend to run down the stores in my small freezer this next couple of weeks so I can freeze more prepared food and take advantage of the offers on my local market - they have a freezer shop that seems to buy job lots of meat, last week they had lamb shanks 4 for £5 but I didnt have room for them. I bought 4 and got a lot of good meals out of them. So intend to re -prep with more focused intent in 2013.
Am off to bed try out my new head torch that OH bought me - sexy addition to the bedroom :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light

Just realised that we are going to the Panto on the 21st. Good enough for the worlds end.:p"Oh no it didn't...Oh yes it did!"
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -

I have never noticed this before but two theatres(Darlington and Durham)are already advertising their pantomimes for 2013."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Had a real disturbed last night as I was wide awake for hours (but tired)...OH says its because I must have been listening for thunder that didn't happen , ha ha ...he may just be right.
The new electric blanket is fantabulous...nice to have one that has even heat so your feet aren't colder than the rest of you. I am going to write a great review for it on Amazon later.
No rain this morning but dull white sky and 8 degrees, so had brekkie ,wrapped up in warm layers, then went out target shooting with my early Christmas present. I am thrilled to say I can still shoot straight . I thought I might have to buy a scope for it but no, I could hit the target dead center using just the sight.I hit it with my first shot and my OH said ''Oh that's good, were you aiming there?'' LOL. Going to go back tomorrow to tell the gunsmith how pleased I am with it.
Well some people thought that the SHTF date might have been today but we are safely through 12.12 on the 12/12/12. I actually remembered and looked at my watch at the exact time but thankfully nothing happened. Much the same as I don't think anything will happen on 21st either. Someone told me the 25th is the danger point for the planetary alignment but I think we are more in danger from a financial point of view or from the awful weather world wide.
I usually help out at the gym on Fridays so would have been there on 21st. However, we are still hoping to get to the mainland for a break if we can and that would be a good day to travel if the ferries are running and its not snowed in. It's a lot of 'ifs' at the moment so not holding my breath. Will get the food in and if we do go away we can have some of it for the New Year.
I saw an early forecast for the UK today and it said you may have heavy rains and flooding on its way back. I really do hope not but I will keep you all posted when I get more details.
Right, off to make some hazlenut coffee and sit in front of the log fire...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
