How old are you Living proof? I go back to the times when a Vesta Curry was EXOTIC!
:rotfl: Happy days! And there was also "Savoury Beef in Potato Nests" with dehydrated beef and instant mash. I have an idea that that was made by Heinz.
I did like the crispy fried noodles that came with Vesta Chow Mein0 -
The only bit I liked were the crispy noodles!:D"This site is addictive!"

I loved them as well, they looked like strips of dried lasagne sheets that puffed and curled up in the tying pan, that was my fave bit.:T

Hope all are well.SPC~12 ot 124

Hello all, seems like a lifetime since i posted but i have been popping in regularly to read how everyone is doing.
Prepping is going well, ordered some mylar bags today to store some dry goods. Also reduced the hours i work to get more of a life/work balance rather than work/life, which has been wonderful.
I've also started reading the art of fermentation by Katz, fascinating stuff, so planning to have a 'play' this week as I'm off.
I promise to try and post more regularly.

if the group using this thread want it closed and a new one of *this* thread then let me know if i can help out

I think the situation is getting a bit daft. Folks didn't want this thread closed, but now there is the suggestion of starting a new one. So we would have 2 new threads talking about exactly the same subject and with many of the same posters in both..:(
Frankly I'm surprised at what has happened and that we can't all be adults and just have one prepping thread where everyone is welcome and can post what they like as long as it is relevant to prepping and within the forum rules.
Have a go at me if you like, but the current situation makes no sense to me at all.:(
PS: just before anyone points out that I'm not a "long-term" poster: newbies, oldies, frequent posters or infrequent posters, or whatever- we are all equally entitled to air our views!!!0 -
Ooh Crispy Noodles . In the seventies long before the high street takeaways - at least in this neck of the woods - the chinese owners of the local chip shop started selling meals alongside the traditional meals . The chow mien was the best I've ever tasted . They used to prep and cook in full view and a visit was a delight . I often wish I'd asked about the crispy noodles . I have seen lots of chats across the web and peoples recipes but they just aren't the same . I believe a number of campaigns were mounted over the years to persuade vesta to sell cn as a stand alone product but they were never going to kill the goose that lays the golden egg who would risk the decline in meal sales ? I wonder how many would make their own cm and just buy the cn - Judging by the comments here quite a few I imagine .
Well I'm gazing at a grey sky and relentless rain in my neck of the woods . I really want to get out in the garden this afternoon .
MM Enjoy your knitting . If Mar has this weather I imagine she's by the fire with the cat , and knitting the neverending socks , maybe we should enter her for the Guiness book of records .
Alas dear readers my own current project is sitting on the needles half done and neglected for some time , some taking back there to eradicate the damage thus caused . Normal service will resume shortly .
I can't believe we are almost to the middle of July , where has the year gone ? So much to do and so little time . Enjoy your day if possible . See you later .

milasavesmoney wrote: »:hello: That's exactly what Maryb was trying to accomplish because this thread had gotten so large. It was mentioned and supported by many posters to close this one and start a "new" this thread. Are there no longer any forum board rules as to how long a thread can be? That was the concern and the reason for starting a new continuation one while asking that this one be closed.
Perhaps you could clarify the rules for us?
i can enquire about " the rules" but was trying to judge this one on a human base, rather than rules basis. I haven't followed a lot of what's gone on but i do understand a lot of emotions are involved in these kinds of things and am trying my best to resolve it the most human way possible.
By keeping this open, or closing this and setting up a new continuation of this - i was trying to please everyone (which really doesnt seem possible). So the guys invested in this thread can continue their chat in a shiny new thread, the guys on the other thread can happily continue what they are discussing. Some people can post in both if they wish
So i really am trying to please everyone as best as I can. To be objective - it doesn't matter to me if there are two threads side by side which are both along different/yet similar veins
We're all board members here and the main rule I recall is "please be nice to all moneysavers".
I'm happy to take your guys lead. Simply closing the thread because it's too long still upsets a lot of people on this thread - where does this chat go to? I really can't see an issue of them both running side by side - and people posting where pleases them.
The other option is i just refer it to the team.
No one has the right to tell anyone where to post or what to post really - not even me

And if anyone's upset out there or feeling cast out, please come back. Life's far too short, this is our place, it's not one persons

Thanks Zippy . Can we please just live and let live alongside each other . There are enough things happening in real life to be scrapping on here . Those who feel slighted or upset have been apologised to . No one should ever feel the threads are not a nice place to be . I try never to be hurtful to any one in real or virtual life . I think people were raw , worried and posts were made in haste and some peoples words were misunderstood - always a danger online .
Can we have both the threads operating side by side ? The room is there for both .
