Personally - I've long thought that, if it comes to it, then we will only be the "first to leave the party", but others will follow....

Fingers would have been crossed for any "casualties of the crossfire" whichever way the vote went. There were obviously going to be some - whichever way it went. I voted for the "greatest good" for the "greatest number" side of this personally - knowing that it looks to be the case that the greatest number of "casualties of crossfire" would happen if we had stayed.

This is the thing - and I know in my own personal "social group" (here or Home Area) the majority have been in favour of staying. I know that social life during the rest of the week is going to include some farmers wives from this part of the country (and have distinct suspicion some of them won't be happy bunnies).

That's the thing - I felt I had to vote for the good of the country as a whole and the British people as a whole.

EU already making moves to "marginalise" Britain before the Divorce is finalised - which is logical/to be expected <shrugs>
Well by all accounts our 'voice' wasn't that important anyway in day to day affairs. Plus - by 2020 I believe? - all EU countries apart from UK and Denmark would be required to be in the Euro. We would most definitely be marginalised by then.

So I'm not overly happy to hear people crowing. Have a heart for those who will face the practical problems caused by this decision.
I'm trying not to crow thriftwizard as I believe ultimately we all have to come together. But as a Brexiter who has endured a barrage of insults for months now - we are all pea brained xenophobic little englanders apparently - it's a bit difficult not to let off a little steam. Plus there were so many sneery comments on media sites yesterday saying a Remain vote was in the bag...
But I do get your concerns and I think we have a rocky road ahead with inevitable fallout. I accept possibly being part of that fallout. Was planning to sell up and rent.So if house prices fall as threatened, my retirement capital (in effect my lifelong savings) will take a hit. However I genuinely think that longer term this is the right decision for the UK as a whole.
Who knows - maybe as part of that fallout - the EU will be reinvented for the better.

Here's a definite preparedness issue: holidaymakers in Greece can't get hold of any currency: https://twitter.com/mattrooney/status/746247112250302465/photo/1

Although I voted to leave, it was a very hard decision and I do have mixed feelings about the result. I'm fully aware that there are a lot of very unhappy people this morning (especially in Gibraltar, where the vote was, not surprisingly, 96% in favour of Remain :( ).
There will be rocky times ahead but we will get there.

Good speech by Cameron, I thought.

It'll be interesting to see whether it's Shakespeare's or Huxley's version that we get.

In both cases it refers to the worst of humanity and the real irony of this is, I think either might be optimistic.
I'm seeing panicked reactions and and widespread worry about the reality of what the vote means and what the consequences might actually be.

Well now you know what it was like in the Scottish Referendum. It does divide people. But for me personally, I'm over the moon and would have voted for Nazi occupation just to watch Cameron standing outside no10 trying not to cry :D:D:D
