:) Hell, money, some of us are going to work on Friday and being up all night isn't possible. I'm already pie-eyed with tiredness and will be in bed not long after the polls close. Some of my colleagues will be working the count and won't be in tomorrow morning, so it'll be another short-handed day for us.

I'll get up at my usual time, 6.30 am, and see what the meeja have to report then whilst breakfasting.

Can't really see any point in waiting up for the results as they come in. It's a referendum and it'll be the national totals which count, not a system of each indivdual constituency declaring a winning candidate, the outcome of which will shape the next parliament.

But what other people choose to do is their business, of course.;)

also got to get up early to drive x hundred miles to collect DD from uni. Will be listening to Radio 4 in the car.

It made me giggle when SamCam wrote that adoring wife and mother piece for the papers and said she looked at her daughter and thought she could be starting an apprenticeship in just six years

    Yeah, sure

:p SamCam's scripted piece was ridiculous. She's a flippin' heiress. Her sprogs will be glossed into lovely little 'jobs' which somehow leave all the time in the world for falling in and out of posh frocks, in and out of posh parties and on and off posh yachts. Her daughter will Marry Well and never know an hour's want or need in her entire life.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, where the real people live, things play out a touch differently. Apprenticeship, my a*se.:rotfl:

Now there MITSTM I have discovered the advantage of living in one room. SHOULD I wake in the night with a burning desire to listen to the pundits trying to second guess the end result, I only have to pick up the remote and the telly will burst into life.

On the other hand I have a Sudoku puzzle book that usually sends me back to sleep pretty quickly.....or I am halfway through a novel.......and I've not finished today's cryptic crossword.......there's always my imaginary flock of sheep to count...Sigh... so many distractions.

See you all tomorrow for the post mortem.

I was surprised to read that Britian has no exit polls. That there are strict laws as to what can be reported on election days...it has to be factual. I like this system.

The US news agencies etc poll people coming out of the election polls all over the country to get a sense of how the vote went, which they immediately start reporting before the polls close. They also make winner projections by calling a state winner, as the polls start to report. We have four time zones so the voter counts roll in like the tide.

When are the postal votes counted? I'm assuming it's on Election Day?

we usually do have exit polls Mila for ordinary elections but because this is a referendum the polling organisations have decided its too difficult to make projections from a poll

I've just been reading the 'Planning your Brexit Night' post on Zerohedge, and think I was under a misapprehension:

It says the results are being declared by council. So, if I live in an area with a lot of fellow Brexiters I might as well not have bothered voting?

Or are the totals being added up, leave/stay for the whole country?

,you should have some of this, I am in a cloudburst so extreme it is darker than it will be at 10 pm tonight and all I can hear is thunder and rain and the squeals of passers-by caught in the deluge.
