I had the same issue MrsLW. Only one councillor (the incumbent) sent anything round - and she also comes to the village cafe for a surgery every couple of weeks.

Nothing from the candidates for police commissioner.

Clearly they don't think it's worth informing us. Details are here: https://www.choosemypcc.org.uk/area/hampshire

Apparently there was only a 15% turnout in 2012 for the last police commissioner election and we had NO information then either, I wonder just what they expect is going to happen this time round?

We've also only had one piece of literature from the local councillor who is also the Mayor and that arrived last night at 6.30!

I found the CHOOSEMYPCC site this morning but it's still only a list of names isn't it? I know there is minimal information on thier background and ideas for the post but not enough to give me choice that is sound. Even the site title sounds like a kiddies game doesn't it? PCC the voter would most like to take home, with waggiest tail etc?

That's interesting. We've actually had a lot of information leaflets from all candidates this year, including the green and communist party candidates. And I know the existing councillor; who's a complete idiot and only in the job for the money so it's been a case of voting against the status quo for me.

I don't see how you could vote or a police commissioner though without any information at all. Just further proof that the PTB rely on ignorance to keep them in power sadly :(

I've had nothing at all from the PCC candidates either - and thats the only vote in my area today, I think. Appalling. I've read the short bios on that site, which is fascinating, thanks greenbee. Reading that has made me determine who to vote for, actually, I was planning something else.

Most of the posts here since I was on have been about ME/CFS - thank you, thank you, to all concerned. I suspect I've had chronic fatigue (though not the full condition) for a long, long time, thinking about how I've collapsed in the past, or not been able to do anything when I've got back home from work, when I used to have an outside job. I just used to sit on my little settee and do absolutely nothing. We're so invisible ... like people who aren't out and partying all the time (and thats me too).

This thread really is a lifeline. For the future, in case of problems, and for now, for the problems that are already here. Thank you all.

Lyn I saw a letter in the paper yesterday from someone asking how he was expected to vote for a PCC when neither he nor anyone he knew had been given any information about the candidates. Annoyingly I can't remember whether the person lived in Hampshire or somewhere else!

We went to vote earlier on. This time it's Mayor of London, local constituency member for the London assembly and a London-wide member for the same assembly. I think!

I will be amazed if any of the people I voted for get in :(

We only have PCC today, last time we had a reasonable amount of info, this time there is only the two or three lines on the ballot paper. One of the candidates is the incumbent and I couldn't tell you anything they've contributed in 4 years.

I'd be surprised if the local turnout reaches the dizzy heights of 2012.

The PCC elections seem pretty useless, especially if you are not being given any information whatsoever (don't have them up here). We had a huge number of election leaflets for Holyrood, the regional list system gives smaller parties more chance at being elected. I have a postal vote too, reduces the need to be functional on a particular day

Cappella, CFS is probably a couple of different things that present in the same way. Only medical advice that is helpful for a majority seems to be rest when you need it. There are a ton of treatable things that give the same symptoms tho so it can be worth getting it checked out

One of my support groups vary between 'woe is me' and ' why can't everything be sunshine and rainbows' neither of which I find helpful at all

We voted early on, we have to drive as its in the wee village hall 2 miles away. Re ME, I'm the opposite to the rest of you (as usual lol) - I'm constantly hot . That and total exhaustion to the point of not being able to open my eyes. The RV refuses to believe that anybody can be too tired to watch TV but believe me I can! I don't have any pain though, thank goodness. I joined a couple of online ME groups but soon left. They were as much comfort as a the Grim Reaper standing at the foot of the bed... load of people all whining and looking for sympathy lol. Life is too short to wallow in misery!!

:p Cappella, I don't even live within 30 miles of that practice, thank gawd.

That GP nearly killed me. I was getting weaker and weaker but he was so fixated on the idea that I was some kind of lead-swinger that he wouldn't order up any investigations, kept trying to palm me off with anti-depressants.

No disrespect intended to sufferers from depression but I have never had that problem. I told him rather testily that I wasn't depressed, I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired all the time!

Eventually, I had a minor problem which could have been explained by an imbalance in hormonal levels, so I had some tests which did throw serious questions (he reacted with fury as if I could produce abnormal blood readings to vex him) and I eventually ended up in the hands of an endocrine registrar at the big famous teaching hospital.

I gave the woman a page of typed symptons, marked off to indicate whether they were frequent or irregular, and she took one look at them and correctly guessed what was wrong! The why took a lot more investigations, but I was actually dying of this undiagnosed condition.

Blasted GP's reaction to the confirmation that I was very seriously ill and had come close to death, was not contrition, as one might expect, but to sneer So there is something wrong with you after all, I AM surprised!

    GQ; I'm not.

GP; Well, you wouldn't be, would you?

If I'd had the strength and emotional energy, I may well have killed him or at least made a formal complaint. As was, I was too busy surviving from day-to-day. !!!!!!'s retired now and I haven't forgiven him yet. Please, lovely people, if you have unexplained fatigue, press for a lot of testing, particularly of thryoid and adrenal function. You may have ME and there may be nothing more to be done than rest and pacing, but you may have something very treatable.
