BTW. I've jumped the gun a bit, as there's still a little over 4 hours to go, but may I draw your attention to my signature, and, in particular, the figure entitled "Amount I have so far denied the BBC".
    :j

Can't see the reason for making a big point about it myself, I've spent that amount on the BBC and you haven't; no doubt there a things like petrol, hair pieces, laxatives or marigold gloves that you might have spent money on that I haven't. :D

Just a personal opinion but I consider what I've paid to the BBC as money well spent! :gasp:

:p I consider the Beeb to be a bunch over-paid scroungers. It's a blinking cheek charging a fresh TVL fee annual when so much of their content is reguritated from previous years/ decades/ the last millennium.

I've never actually paid them a penny - gave my last TV away in 1987 when I was a student and students were covered by the parental TV license when living away from home. And, having been perusing the schedules this holiday season, as am in the parental home, I haven't found anything worthwhile to watch at all.

But I am coming to the end of the 146th book of 2015.:p

:D 'the wireless?' - what is this strange thing thou speakest of, young sir? I entertain myself by calling up requests to the minstrels' gallery, whereupon my musicians serenade me with delightful compositions to the accompaniment of the sackbutt and the shawm.

Alas and alack, the zampognatist was getting on my wick and is now walking a trifle strangely since I invited him to stick it where the monkey sticks his nuts

 And a Happy New Year to one and all. I shall observe it from my customary position under the duvet........;)

Minstrel's gallery? I'm imagining Shoebox Towers' resident rapper. :)

Happy new year to you too GQ, and thanks for all your good advice this year.

Happy New Year to you all! Have to admit, I got out from under my mother's spare duvet to watch the fireworks; she lives in the centre of our county town and has just returned home from two weeks' respite care after leaving hospital as weak as a kitten. The fireworks were rather fun, and I didn't miss the customary jollity at home one tiny little bit!

I see the long-range forecast includes the possibility of some intense rain hitting the South; time to inspect my preps...
