Flooding again in my part of Cumbria. There is a ginormous tree lying on the village green that was hauled out of the river by the farmer next door after getting swept downstream and wedged underneath the bridge. It looks set to float off again. No one could imagine that the once in a lifetime flooding could happen again in weeks .
Just got a call to say that a parcel delivery probably can't be made because the roads are flooded. Great. However at least I am not one of the residents down by the river gathered outside their homes surveying the approaching misery. Again.
Edit. The parcel got here after he took a little known higher up single track route that I told him about on the phone but he says he has food deliveries on board that people won't get.
Another example of the wisdom of prepping!
  • Pineapple how awful I'm so sorry I've not seen anything yet on the news. How do people carry on? I mean if you live in one place but work elsewhere - how long are work sympathetic to your problems. My friend flooded once and he is wife and 2 kids lived in a travel lodge for 7 months he said the fun factory was like their front room and the only place he could go when they'd had an argument was to go sit in the loo. But he still got to work and the kids to school etc as everything was fairly close I don't know how many hotels there are near you or indeed if they have been affected. My heart goes out to everyone x

11 flood warnings are in force in Cumbria. It's just dreadful.

We haven't any flooding up here yet I don't think but the rain and wind just keep on coming, day after day after day.
I wish I had a relationship where I could have a shared giggle... the RV def isn't one of life's wee sunbeams and that's a fact :D
I'm another one who hates the hype and greed and stress of xmas, it's all totally fake from beginning to end. I don't enjoy it at all.
  • Other things to be aware of if there is potential flooding in nearby areas - ie being aware of whether you need to get through that particular road for things like appointments anywhere (eg medical ones).

I've been feeling thankful that various appointments elsewhere were safely out of the way "done and dusted" before relevant road to get there flooded. It was a heck of a journey to have to make anyway - so even more hassle/time added onto that (ie for going an alternative route) would have had me ringing up postponing.
