They were asked not to tweet police movements - in case the terrorists were helped by it. They responded by deciding to "drown out" any tweets like that with pictures of cats. Started by one saying "Cats = my kind of people" and now being continued with lots of amusing cat pictures. Thinks - FrugalSod - are you free for a bit of "Twittering" today? LOL.
That's the thing - these terrorists don't seem to have any discernible sense of humour - so funny cat pictures seems quite appropriate to me as a response on that front. After all - they've used cuddly pictures of cats to lure some young girls living in our country to join them.
As for accidentally assisting the terrorists in knowing where the police are via twitter is probably over stating the facts. There is regularly a helicopter flying overhead and unless it stays overhead or very close it does not necessarily draw attention from me. I certainly do not use twitter to find out what it is doing. Though I really do not use twitter so maybe that is a blessing in disguise.
I suspect that the terrible economic situation for many teenage muslims in this country is also a big factor in radicalising them. Plus regular reports of innocents being killed by drone attacks is also creating more terrorists in the countries that are being attacked, especially if there is high unemployment which is true in many Arab nations right now. So would them trying to get a job here be the same as them trying to sneak in to commit a terrorist act here be just an excuse to be xenophobic by many? It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
