Not sure what to make of that, but "Paris Attack False Flag: Conspiracy Hoax Exposed" maked me concerned.
I don't have time to watch random youtube videos, so executive summary please.0 -
If I was close enough to identify a suicide vest, I'd be outta there in an instant, not calmly filming them. :rotfl:
While I definitely agree with you I doubt that they would detonate themselves next to the car killing all the other suicide bombers. So if I had the phone in my hand then I would start filming and walking away as fast as possible. If you can help identify the rest of the group that would be sensible whether you survived or not. Remember that these people have no plans to be alive at the end of their mission but if you can help identify leaders and others by filming them then you could save countless lives as well.
The terrorists modus operandi has changed so we must adapt as well. If I were ever on a plane that was looking like terrorists were on board I would dive in and try and subdue them because we have no option. Look how many terrorists have been jumped by passengers since the 9/11 attacks. Though there have also been a lot of drunks subdued as well. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Re the plane scenario, would love to think I would help tackle any hijackers but until I find myself in the situation, I can't know whether I would be paralysed by fear.0 -
It all depends on how good your eyes are! Mine are good.

Surely if people were wearing what were obviously suicide vests other people would leave the scene as fast as possible in any case, (not if it were happening on a plane, obviously!) and if they had blown themselves up it wouldn't be much help having filmed them?0 -
You do not have to stand still and film, once your phone is on video mode walk away without attracting attention to yourself. Make it look like you are looking at your phone while walking away. The phone can face the terrorists but nothing else has to. Be discreet.
The point of filming is not to get close enough to get a really good shot of the explosion, but just close enough to identify the terrorists and then to get out of there. Most peoples memory gets very hazy when danger is about. You care concentrating on flight. You might not remember how many people or whether men or women are involved. This takes the guess work out completely. This does not mean getting any closer than necessary or even approaching them. You might be several hundred feet away but be able to see that there are 3 people in a car and even focus in on the number plate. The police would then be able to enhance the video if necessary to get the number plate if blurry. If the French police had known the car registration details would it have made it to Belgium?
Most suicide vests probably have a dangerous concussive radius of only 5 m or less. They are more effective in enclosed spaces, which would reflect back compression waves of an explosion. The risks will come from shrapnel which could make it larger but I am not proposing anyone get any closer. You could be over 100 feet away, and if they decided to shoot at you the odds are that they would be very lucky to hit you, unless at close range. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

On an aircraft the options are very limited. You either take a chance trying to overcome the terrorists or die later anyway. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Have any cat owners noticed this type of interaction? It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

My mother's cat had another trick.
Meow at 3.30am. No human response.
Sit on human, meow. No human response.
Walk forward on human chest. Place one front paw on human's mouth to prevent respiration. Meow. No human response.
OK - put other front paw in human's nose, squashing it to completey obstruct breathing..............
OK I was playing possum but............
He was not allowed back in.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I disagree about our memories being hazy in difficult situations. In severe situations we have something called 'flash bulb memory' These vivid memories stay with us for a life time. In a situation as severe as the sort of situations you're describing Frugalsod I would argue that it could well be a 'flash bulb' moment.
It's well known that humans fight, freeze, fawn or flight in situations that are uncomfortable. It's also well known that humans have the fight or flight response in situations where the individual considers themselves to be in grave danger. I put it that in the scenario where you feel you would be comfortable staying and filming a potential deadly scenario will not be a scenario that others will feel comfortable to do the same.
It's interesting to read how you think you would react Frugalsod but I feel it's for the individual to assess their limitations and work out their own emergency plans.0 -
Not heavy, very wet, and only sticking on the grass verges, but snow nevertheless.0
