Customers are urged to change their Chatchat account password, and if they use the same password anywhere else, to change that too. The company has apparently warned the major banks about possible fraud. I am sure that we are hearing about it after it has happened, i.e. any attacks on people's bank accounts will have already happened before the news came out. Yesterday on checking my account things were fine. I may do a quick balance check at a cash machine, but I certainly will not be checking my account via computer, kindle, IPad, smartphone or even via the telephone banking service! I may be over cautious, but you never know.......does anyone know if there is some form of protection for bank customers when funds are lost through cyber attacks?
I also have random user names across services so impossible to link across services that I use. So my user name for this site is nothing like any of my other user names.
Should the worst happen I only have one account to worry about and is also why I never use the Facebook login. Should that ever be hacked they would have access to hundreds of sites, which would be hard work and time consuming to change. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

I am avoiding the extreme south of the country because of a separatist uprising there. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Evening all.
Dunno about Mexico but I'm wondering what the Enviroment Agency know because they've just sent me a Floodline email with how # floodaware are you? as the subject line.
I assume the hashtag means something to the twitterati..........:pEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

short_bird I entirely agree about Rapport! I installed it and had endless problems, including the computer running very very slowly. When I got my DS (who does a lot of techie stuff) to have a look, he said "Oh, you've got blimin' Rapport on there - no wonder you're having problems, it takes up loads of space!" and un-installed it.
This afternoon I wanted to log onto my NW account, but after the little swirly thing had gone round and round for ages it announced that it "couldn't find the cache".
I shall not start flapping that their site "must have been hacked panic panic!"; I'll simply try again tomorrow, but I wonder if it's due to loads of people who are TalkTalk customers trying to get in at the same time to check their accounts are okay?0 -
Oooops I must've been lucky lol0

Oh, that's encouraging mar. Was that actual RBS though, rather than NatWest? I don't know quite what will happen when I do try again, as I'd actually logged in before it decided it "couldn't find the cache" and there wasn't actually an opportunity to log back out again.
I'm so glad I'm not a TalkTalk customer myself0 -

I don't do online banking, I'm far too inclined to transpose numbers when tired. I'd probably send my money to someone else, or accidentally buy a 747 or summat.
Well, speakers haven't gone WHUMP since I plugged the CRT monitor into a powerstrip off another socket to the rest of the pooter and its accessories. Does that mean my monitor is dying, nuatha (or anyone)?
Actually, I nearly threw a brick at it in frustration a couple of hours ago as am trying to get onto my freegle account and couldn't. So went to re-register to be told that this nickname was already being used (yeah, it's my own previously-used freegle handle linked to the same email address and password I just gave you, ya dumbos) so did a re-reg as a new user and it has to send an activation email to me which hasn't arrived. And if it hasn't, I should check my spam folder/ trash folder, only Outlook Express 6 doesn't appear to have any such thing, so I can't even register and give stuff away and I'm soooo  it's just not true.
Freegle here used to be a simple and straightforward thing and the worst you encountered was the occasional no-show. Now you have to faddle-arris around with their website and I'm getting far too irritable to be bothered. I shall take what I can to the chazzer and am tempted to s0dding landfill the rest. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
* and breathe. sorry*
Goes off to have a :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall: session.
Or a fullblown tantrum. Nuurrrrrrrrsssssssssieeeeeeee, bring me tea, chocolate cake, I'm getting to Maximum Ratbag.
ETA; the world is bonkers. Went onto a site with a live traffic feed that correctly IDs me as being in the UK on other visits and now I am in San Francisco. Too funny........... ;PEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
