The eldest of The Offspring would probably be better at coping, but the other two enjoy technology far too much & fail to understand the implications of losing just the leccie. I'm so tempted to do the 'remove a cicuit breaker from the main fusebox' like the mum on that ad a while back :rotfl:...
BMF I actually did this one weekend my god you should have heard the screams...it was TEOTWAWKI in my house as games were lost without being saved etc It was my youngest who put me up to it as he was bored as everyone was 'plugged in'...
we spent a really nice afternoon playing board games and having a BBQ in the end and to this day no-one is the wiser
Dawemouse for the meds I'd use a ziplock bag inside a dry sack. These are often on special in Millets and Sports Direct
Just catching up last few pages..0 -
Any help with the ferrules question will be very welcome here as well! It is getting to the stage where I will be housebound (unless Dr Dragon is with me) because of this
(Dragon wanders off to look in catalogue provided by OT last week!)

Our friends in the North have you got your winter preps ready? A cold front is coming in later in the week with the possibility of some snow..this is a Sky news forecast so not neccessarily right
Don't forget uksnow on twitter a great site for following where the snowfall is!
Meme/Dragon the best thing I can think of off the top of my head would be those walking stick type crutches with 4 legs so it would spread the area and give more stability but don't know how practical they would be for each users disability..DS2 got on well with one but they may not suit. Will try and find some links

Something like this then the crutch part could maybe be slotted in the top rather than a walking stick handle??0 -
Just found this ice grip for a crutch
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ice+grip+crutch
I keep wet wipes in stores and BOBs and I also got some swarfega minipacks for the bags too.
I buy a box at a time usually on Amazon and they never dry out I only buy Pampers though0 -
a nice idea D&DD but I need crutches for the support
, my whole right side is scuppered (bliddy drunk drivers!)

Hi everyone ...
I was thinking about the 'ice-grip' thing for crutches ...would a screw in stud, similar to that they have on golf or football studs
and for Grey Queen, who does this sort of thing ...
I saw this and blagged it for here ...:o

There are tons of good downloads in the Survival Database Download section of this website. Im so glad BigMummaf brought up the exotic pet problem, I hadnt thought of that and Dd has a large number of snakes of varying sizes. I will get that one sorted for her (she has enough on her plate at the mo) I think the baby hot water bottles would be a start and they are cheap so can pick one up each time I go in a £shop.
There is so much to think about isnt there. D&DD well done on finding the crutch ferrule, will go and look for a walking stick one for OH.
when DD had DGS I was so anti-wet wipes and drove her mad, then I saw a lady in a CS cleaning a 3 piece suite that was on sale and I was amazed. I use them for all sorts of things including crafts and wouldnt be without themOH laughs at me cos I hate him buying papertowels for painting etc but will happily buy wet wipes. I cut up 2 quilt covers and a fitted valance that were worn out and they got used up so quickly that I gave in a let him buy paper towels again.

Thanks for the replies about the crutches problem. D&DD, I'm afraid it has to be a full sized crutch with elbow thingies but the amazon thing looks good, thanks for that.Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0

The problem is that the central banks can't be trusted either..they are all in it for the money not for the good of countries. There is a current supreme court case going on that shows the IMF was part of the problem with Greece and the EU in the first place.
.....
figures....and I DON'T mean the Greeks.......
Hi everyone. I've read this thread from the beginning and think that being prepared for whatever life is going to throw at you (us), is very sensible. The boy scout's motto to "be prepared" was there for a reason!
2tonsils. I have to say that I always like to hear what you have to say about what is going on over there in Greece. I really hope that it all works out for you all in the end. I agree that the best thing for Greece and many other countries would be to leave the euro and revert to using their own currencies again. Am I right in thinking that all the main political parties over there want to stay in the euro?
Anyway I thought that some of you may like to have a read at a free book called Billions for the Bankers Debt for the People (thelibertyclub dot net / emry.pdf - sorry I can't post links yet), as it gives an insight as to what is currently happening in the world today. I'd just like to add that I have no affiliation with the website or the book, but found it on my travels (across the www) and thought it explained things very well. It may be a real eye-opener if you have not come across the information before.
For those of us that don't have swimming pool sized lakes under our houses, has anyone seen or made one of the bio sand water filters before? (G**gle for them) I only saw them for the first time the other day and thought that for an extended SHTF scenario, having the knowledge to be able to put one of these together would be indispensable. I'm sure one could be constructed out of plastic (PTFE) bottles or buckets.
Anyway better get on.
