*stands coyly just inside the door* If you'll have me, could I put myself forward for the Group's CSICSI? I am an avid solverer of crimes against spending & hold many diplomas from Pwoa-roe Polly, all counter-signed by Mrs JB Fletcher & Grissom M.D.
I will also double up as the Community Singing Instigator, as I can usually find a few bars (as in music! well, in this instance but willing to volunteer my services of course  ) to fit the situation :D

I'm sure Mar would back me up (there's a bag of jelly babies in it for you Pet ;);) ) & there's a stack of woman's magazines turning a deep shade of sepia in Mutha's spare room as I type, that I could catalogue & cross reference for knitting patterns & 15 Ways with Weezle recipes to bring to The Cause....

Thanks Ginny; I recognise a good few names but very much look forward to becoming acquainted with you all :)

I'm a somewhat prepper of a couple of years standing I should think..the days fly by & I lose track of what I did when :o The Offspring are still living at home but are--albeit s-l-o-w-l-y--becoming folk of good standing by adopting fleece throws & extra jumpers where once the CH would have been pushed to the limit, & putting as much of the dinner into one pot/ the oven as is possible :T

We have a little stash of hot water bottles too, but they are for Iggie IF the need arise. Pup will be fine as he likes to be covered up anyway, but power outtage really worried me with an exotic pet in the family :undecided She has her own apartment under the stairs with bedroom, dining room, bathroom & solarium, & it's the special UV lamp that would be a problem. We've hunted high & low for a standard lamp sort of thing without success, so I wouldn't have thought there is much available in case the leccie goes off :( If there are any other reptile lovers out there...any & all advice gratefully received!

Well the only thing I can suggest is battery back up of the uv? Something similar to that used in electric horse fencing? If you ask in your local reptilian expert shop they may know what to do.

I have remembered a waterproofed fleece for the car! N1kw@x is stunning stuff. Use in a bucket not the washing machine and get ALL the dregs on any bit of fabric you can.

Fighting with drying washing here, foggy is not the word here doesn't help either even with the windows open!

 Hi BMF nice to see you again.

Just asked DS (ex animal management/zoo) and he said, find a cardboard box that's just big enough to fit iggi and a hot water bottle (wrapped in a towel) cut an entrance hole in it and place HWB in it, iggie should follow the heat, if they dont place in the box, replace every few hours and no not feed until elec back on and temps back up due to digestion. 48 hours without food won't be a problem.

For longer periods try local petshops/vets/animal management college who should have back up generators but you would have to pay boarding fees.

Could you darn & then cover the repairs with diamante, fancy emblems or just simple embroidery? ...

BigMummaF first of all, welcome on board, good to see you around again! Re. jumpers, I shall stitch them but the holes are fairly big so mending will show, but never mind, rather have darned jumpers than having to buy new ones! And with the darned posh one I can always pretend to be a genteel lady who "fell in hard times" LOL
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
