Did anybody else see a news item saying the RAF had permission to fire on Russian jets? I saw it somewhere but cannot find it now. I hope I imagined it but don't think so..

I love this thread and think it's fine altogether in one place. As GreyQueen says if you aren't interested in a post then skim over it.

:D Am sure Putin is absolutely terrified now ... I mean with our huge army and vast navy and awesome numbers of planes ...:rotfl:
The only danger Cameron can put him in is of getting a hernia rolling around laughing at him.

Prepping-wise, I've accumulated enough of a store to put a decent meal on the table despite me muvva's protestations about "all this ruddy food!", should circumstance prevent us leaving the house. And it only takes one dodgy weather forecast for Mum to declare that "we need to get some bread & bits in, if that's what's coming" so I'm slowly converting her round to our way of thinking, albeit one price offer on a box of teabags at a time :rotfl:
It was the cost of bread and having to go and get it that encouraged me to learn how to make it. If you go through it rapidly enough then it can also save you money as well.

Also now is a good time to get in wellies or cold weather gear because we probably have a good chance of at least a few days of cold if not snow.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

Do you think that this is all a massive diversion so that his special forces can raid your Jelly baby supplies?

Not sure if this will be of any use for us in the UK, but it sure has lots of interesting stuff to peruse!

Only found it 5 mins ago, just wanted to post it on the thread in case I lost the bookmark.

  • I'm making enough marmalade today to last us for a year, only 12 jars but then it's in and done. I've just had the thought that at least we've got that in the bank as it were if there should be a problem with citrus fruit in the coming year. I have no intimation that this could happen but given that some worldwide crops have failed due to various factors like drought/climate change it's another aspect of prepping that is relevant to everyday life. It's worth keeping a finger on the food production pulse at all times so if there is ever a problem with a crop and there are likely to be shortages we'd have up front heads ups and be able to get stocks in before the shelves emptied dramatically in the shops. Not scare mongering but practical common sense!

My god there would definitely be wholescale massacre and blood in the streets if anybody tried to take my sweetie stash! Wee ratty grannies deprived of sugar are a force to be reckoned with.
