Preparedness for when

In the event of sea-level rise, I wonder how severely the freshwater supplies (aquifers etc.) would be affected, as surely the incoming salt water would pollute many.
Although most of the land that would be left would be in the wet west of the British Archipelago.
There'd be a lot of salt-marshes, so very good habitat for wild waterbirds. But not a lot of use for wheat-growing.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Mardatha I firmly believe what we eat and herbs and spices help with our health. I use turmeric, cinnamon, garlic and chilli regularly. I have turmeric and cinnamon on my porridge. I call chilli my medicine food.
I'm going to sound mad here. A couple of years ago I had really bad pneumonia and was in hospital. When I came out I instinctively knew I needed spicy hot food. I did some research into what spices would help me recover. Turmeric being one of the main ones. I also had a book I had not read called Conscious Medicine about how our thoughts and emotions can help healing and also how stress etc can cause ill health. It was as if someone directed me to read it at that particular time. So I think that helped me on the road to recovery.
I have a knee problem at the moment and I believe that turmeric etc will help and having physio as well.0 -
Looking for sources of objective facts on the refugee situation and found analysis of origin of refugees etc:
http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/asylum_statistics
which I shall have to have a good read of - as I gather the long story short is that only 1 in 5 of recent refugees are Syrians.0 -
I didn't realise you were THAT old :rotfl:
I am indeedy.
I realised once I'd posted it that it looked daft but it was funny so I decided not to edit it; I meant my memory of reading about it in a book.
sb44, if I'm feeling lurgy with a cold I crave hot spicy food and usually get some. Seems to help clear my head.
Quite a bit of ancient archaeology is under the North Sea and under the North Atlantic, esp off Portugal and Spain. The thing to understand about sudden catastrophes is that they can be deal-breakers for advanced urban cultures.
Such as the eruption of Santorini, the volcanic island north of Crete, which entombed whole towns there and sent earthquakes and a tsunami down to Crete. Which the advanced and sophisticated palace culture, which we refer to as the Minoans, never recovered from, and then fell prey to invaders from elsewhere in its weakened state. Crete of the legendary hundred cities, in its winedark sea, with its wooden walls (its famous fleet), its diplomatic and trade connections to pharonic Egypt, all swept away.
This destruction is believed to be the kernel of truth behind the legend of Atlantis.
Plenty of affluent ports globally have silted up and lost their prosperity, plenty of croplands have washed and blown away, one river in the Far East switched courses in a few days, leaving a town high and dry in a desert area (in historic not modern times).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

They are saying that there could be up to 35 million migrants coming to Europe!!
I think we should be taking it for granted now, that there will be an isis cell heading towards Britain ( if not already here to interact with isis sympathisers here) and organising attacks etc..
I honestly think we should now seriously start thinking about our shopping habbits and the places where we go, its all well and good saying if you change your habbits, or are frightened they have won etc, BUT.. That it easy to say now, when we havnt had the potential full force of then in our country...
This is a prepping thread, for prepping for all scenarios etc.. And I think this one should now def be climbing to the top of our lists...
Edit...... Was trying to think if there is any special dates that they might use, anniversaries of deaths, leadership dates etc??Work to live= not live to work0 -
I don't know about specific attack dates that might be chosen for an Isis attack. However, I recall reading some time back that Friday is the equivalent of our Sabbath Day (ie Sunday) and it was felt they would want to attack on days when they were less likely to create an "own goal" (ie inadvertently hit some of their own worshippers).
That made sense to me - and all also a sort of inverted interpretation of "the better the day the better the deed" (or, in their terms, they might see extra "merit" in hitting on their equivalent "Sabbath day" iyswim).
I've long since learnt the merit (in a variety of situations) of thinking "If I were them, then what would I do in their position?" and its very often something totally different to what I personally would do iyswim. A sort of mental "turn things on head" and "if I were in their head" way of thinking. You can often predict what will happen then.0 -
OK you all know that the isis, migrant situation is well and truely putting g the willies up me..
But a good topic to discuss is information/ news / media coverage of certain situations.
In reality are we better off knowi g exactly what is going on?? Just having snippets of information that they feed us on the BBC etc, or are we better off not having any information, and not being told what is happening in other parts of the world??
Knowing too much is scary, only knowing a little bit is scary and not knowing nothing potentially could be scary , but if we know nothing we got nothing to be scared of, as we don't know nothing until it happens lolWork to live= not live to work0 -
