I'm always in glass half full mode love! Yes, there will be resentment and yes there will be some people who will kick up a stink and try to stir things up, there always is when change is afoot but, I guess Syrian families being helped from unsafe places in Syria which is what the media are talking about are a very different thing to people forcing the issue for whatever reason by arriving illegally on European soil and then making demands and becoming increasingly difficult and violent. Time will tell won't it?0

The migrants are not from Europe and some of the causes are global so imo it shouldn't just be Europe's problem any more than it should just be up to their arrival points to deal with. We can be critical of some of the scenes in the Greek islands etc but I'm not sure we would be doing any better.
Anyhow looking at the big picture and with my half full hat on (with a dab of tinfoil nat) I do wonder whether we will one day look on this as the start point of chaos or worse. The flood gates are opening. How soon before the admirable goodwill in Germany changes? How soon before we get unrest in the UK after some of the newly arrived in Europe make their way here?
How many IS operatives are sneaking in under the radar?
As for attempts to resolve the problems with IS, Assad etc, there is huge potential for a falling out amongst the superpowers.
Precarious times.
It seems the goodwill has come to an end already, Germany and Hungary both plan to close their borders against any more, and say that the twelve thousand is enough....wonder what happened to the eight hundred thousand they said Germany planned to take? I think they have found that the majority of the migrants are fit young men out to cause trouble, and not the submissive , grateful refugees they had hoped for. In one city in Germany they had a welcome committee, in another the fascists turned up and the migrants were quickly moved elsewhere.
This just now filmed by a charity in Belgium who were cooking eight hundred meals a day for migrants... http://tothedeathmedia.com/muslim-migrants-storming-europe-spitting-on-free-food-given-to-them-because/
I think this is the start of civil unrest in many countries and will end in all out chaos and violence.0 -
On a personal note, the Greek bank here is again denying me access to my own money in sterling account.

This has probably already been covered but deposit protection is being reduced. It won't affect me but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the market.

The real problem will be if a bank fails what happens to businesses who will be more likely to have such sums? It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
i don't mean to sound harsh but Greece has known this crisis was coming for a long time. People should have been squirreling money at home. We don't have but will soon have a fair amount of cash hidden in our home for emergencies. When the SHTF, credit cards won't help.0

I see you live in the states and have not been following my posts from Greece. many old folks have been trying to live on three hundred euros a month. for the last three years they have been living off food out of the bins in the winter. What money?? We have been robbed blind and most of us have very little left, we cant sell houses as we will get nothing for them.......why not read back and catch up on the truth? Greek credit cards are being controlled and we are allowed only sixty euros a day...not that many have that much left. It must be very nice to give your opinion on Greece when you are not living it
Coming to a country very close to yours soon....0 -

I have just had two emails telling me they are doing this with cheques in the US as well, even weekly wage cheques, its in the bank but you are not given access to it.
Can we have more details on this please? and are there any newspaper articles about this happening we could have links to?0
