Talking about eggs, I know alotbof peoples chickens have slowed right down laying...

With the BlackBerry tea, has it got to be young leaves or any old ones will do??? Might have a go at that, can you still add sugar and milk lol

Our chooks are still pumping out the goods at the moment, but watching how badly montys toms had done on tv recently I reckon we have been lucky and actually had a better summer than alot of places further south.

Toms are going crazy at the mo as well as courgette plants, need to get cooking/blanching/chopping and freezing lol.

I have been pondering about those in the cities and not having land to be self sufficient. Aren't the big towns and cities a direct product of the industrial revolution ie, fossil fuels, so there may well be a reverse migration with people returning to the land their great grandparents left?

OH was chatting today to someone we know who is high up in his area of expertise and in fact is called upon at times as a "government advisor"-yes he does't think much of MP's even having met them personally lol. He is what you would think of as being part of the establishment and yet he turns out to be a "prepper" and said it is nice to hear of others who aren't sheeple. He believes things are going downhill fast and we need to buckle in for the ride.

Also OH got given a rabbit by a mate who has a young dog who is turning into rather a good little hunter-he already has a freezer full so free meat yay. OH cleaned it and its in the fridge whilst I decided what to do with it, thinking curry or a nice stew in the SC.

We don't eat the offal, but if things were really tight even if we couldn't stomach it I would use for the animals.

Yes not a pleasant term for them either, mainly derogatory but justified in reality. It is not a term for anyone in this thread but could apply to anyone who really does not think for themselves.

Had a bit of a SHTF morning here, woke up to find a stream of water had run through the front room and out the door. No rain in the night and no water run, so we went to check the road on the hill above us. Lo and behold, someone had used a hose to try to clear a rain drain. It must have a blockage,so going to complain to the village council. Might put water down it with dye in to pinpoint the issue first. Luckily we have tiled floors ,so it ran through and out without much damage. Need to get it fixed before the storms come though, but not hopeful with a council with no money for repairs!

The situationn with all the migrants is looking bad. The weather is about to turn nasty here and there will be more drownings. There is no money to do much more than the basics here in Greece. The biggest issue is that the migrants are angry and turning aggressive in this country and the others. They are demanding better food and clothes and better transport. I do think they should take the children and mothers and send the young men back where they came from. Most are not refugees..... I say yesterday it is as low as 23 percent. The rest are economic migrants looking for a better life in Germany. The Muslim countries should start taking them.

The Greek banks have been downgraded again and I am going to take my money out as soon as the cheque is cleared, which should be this week. It will take me three weeks to get it out as the limit is still four hundred and twenty euros a week.

Going to pay the mortgage and house taxes in advance again. Its safer than keeping it in the house. At the moment my stocks of food, fuel , water and meds are excellent, but I think we have a severe winter coming,so will be adding to them as much as I can. Italy has just had its first heavy snow in the mountains, which is the earliest I can ever remember. I am going to find out my heavy curtains and put them up this afternoon so that we are ready for the weather change. We should have good weather till about November with reasonable temperatures during the day....but I think its going to be different this year!

Keep on prepping and posting, I learn such a lot on here my friends:T

On the election front, it looks like the new boys and old boys are neck and neck and it will have to be a coalition again.....I dont think anything is solved and all these delays are making the situation worse. I think we are coming to a crunch time later this month and that is when the dominoes are going to start falling in Europe financially. Add to this an out of control migrant situation and you have the makings of an apocalypse movie in reality on our doorsteps.

It might be worth thinking about security in your home as well as preparing for this harsh winter and securing finances. They sure are keeping us preppers busy!:)
  • Morning all,

We are battening down the hatches, now that our circumstances have drastically changed, but on the good news front I do start a part time job on Monday, even if it is only for a few weeks, so at least we know we got x amount of money coming in each week.

Re- migrants/ refugees, it is so upsetting that people have got flee their country due to conflict etc, BUT what is annoying me, as 1 Tonsil has mentioned they are not happy with what we give them, and are getting very vocal an violant surely this isn't the type of action a person who was in fear of their life would do to thank the people trying to help them, along with thousands and thousands of others ???? I would just be happy I was in a safe environment and some food and water, and some clothes on my back..

Let's hope a so!ution can be found, and there is EU help for the counties/areas where these people are entering the EU, as they can not be expect to take the financial burden of feeding these people solely by themselves etc

I am not sure if this post will show on here. Its a video taken today, with migrants from the train throwing away packs of coke and water given to them by helpers and shouting abuse and throwing things at the ladies giving out bread and food......

I would agree. The problem is that most of the muslim countries are not that stable either, there are also rumblings of problems in Turkey and Jordan. I do not think the gulf states want them either and have said that they are small countries so do not want them either.

I do think that if we cannot identify them then we send them back to where they come from. So we should only process those that come from war zones and have identification. That would stop them destroying their paperwork. It is a difficult problem because many will be in deadly peril if we send them back such as the Afghan interpreters we used when there. If they have their paperwork we should process then immediately and take them as part of our quota.
