I think Lyn's idea is a good one, jkO
In the meantime, you could try a tonic with extra iron, such as Floradix.
Can you not eat even very lean red meat?
Animal Tribe - That must be infuriating! Does it happen a lot?0 -
Thanks guys.
I daren't risk even very lean red meat. That was mostly the only type I ate before having all those belly aches last year. Even fish fingers in breadcrumbs gave me twinges the other night, can you believe?
At the moment I eat just grilled chicken, turkey & fish.
Regarding the vegetable fats, I'm allergic to nuts, and don't like coconut or avocado.
Edit: Bertolli spread seems to be okay.0 -

Unfortunately yes. We are on the edge of a moor and the only house around for miles. Every year we say we won't help again, both wrecked our backs one year, but it would be inhuman to leave folk stranded. The guy at the other side of the moor used to help those stuck near to him (he has a tractor), but he's stopped doing it as two folk in a row threatened to sue him for damage to their bumper. It would be easy to die out here as it gets tremendously cold and exceptionally windy, and the moor can be very boggy. Not to mention there are no lights so it gets pitch black and it's very easy to be disoriented. We often see the rescue helicopter looking for walkers in good weather let alone bad.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£2400 -

Stout was always given to the anaemic in the old days and tonic wines such as Wincarnis and Sanatogen which you can still buy.
Iron-rich foods include:- dark-green leafy vegetables, such as watercress and curly kale

Have been busy gardening and given a camelia a severe pruning. I know it's a bit late (should have been done straight after flowering) but I wasn't in a fit state.
Oh, well it's got two choices - live or die :rotfl:
Also been doing a bit of sanding down of an item I rescued from the skip at school a couple of years ago. I liked the shape of it
MrD did some eye-rolling at the time, but just had a look on ebay and similar item's going for hundreds
I love the smell, feel and look of real wood and take pleasure in restoring stuff. Don't always keep things I've done, I either sell or give away depending on whether I've bought or "found" the item.
Will have a read back now it's raining xNot dim.....just living in soft focus

I've a 20 y.o. Br@bantia one which quails at nothing, inc the FB corned beef or tinned pie tins. Although I open the corned beef with the key if it has it.
I'm using up some tinned fish because I bought large sizes and take 2-3 meals to get through them as a singleton. If the leccy is off temporarily, I'd be keeping the fridge cold to keep the coldness in. If it was off longer-term, I shall need foodstuffs which can live outside the fridge without growing harmful bacteria very rapidly, or are small enough to eat in one sitting.
When my Nan was slinging out her old metal meat safe, long since demoted to her wash house, I claimed it for my own shed. I use it as a vermin-proof place to keep my veggie seeds, but I have a longer term plan to bring it down to the flat, if necessary, to use as a larder..
I think a lot of us moderns are a bit deskilled when it comes to managing food without the blessing of a fridge and perhaps also a freezer. Would be good to mug up on few skills. I am thinking of getting a couple of those foldable mesh food covers, to keep flies off cooling foods. The rigid mesh domes are better, imo, but my tiny home hasn't got houseroom for them.
Flies are filthy disease-bearing creatures and we need to keep them off our grub.
We live in an early 1950's house and I am lucky enough to have a real larder with a marble shelf :j I also have lots of the mesh covers from the land of poond as wellBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

jkO I think Lyn is right. Make an appointment to see the surgery nurse and have a chat. I think she might want to do some blood tests. Have you been checked for diabetes recently?
I had my gall bladder removed, together with my appendix, when I was 24, 9 months after I had DD1, (a very long time ago)so I know what the pain is like when you have eaten something you shouldn't.
I have started taking B12 vitamins and it does seem to be helping with the tiredness I had been experiencing recently, but your best bet is to see the nurse or GP.
Wishing you well

Even talking to a Pharmacist might be helpful?
It might be as simple as adding more carbs like bread and pasta. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Daz, It's interesting to hear what you're saying about this company. I have a friend who's bedridden, she and her husband moved into a purpose built bungalow 8/9 month ago, they were with said company before they moved so just stayed with them.
So many promises were made and broken over the months that my friends, fairly recently, gave up and signed with BT, even then the company tried to mess things up. They are now going through the BeeTee procedures and so still have no 'phone or internet.
I have been so cross and frustrated about this and even got the details of our MP for them but you have to be tactful, her husband's dealing with it so I just have to keep my mouth shut.

Regarding people on phones stepping out in front of cars, did anyone hear Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 a few weeks ago talking about the dangers of electric cars?
He had on a poor blind man, who had been run over twice by the same car! Someone else rang in, and said that since he bought one a year ago, he has run over six cats. Poor pusses.
I now drive a diesel car, and in view of the above, am glad it's slightly noisy.
DS1 was on his motorbike, sitting in traffic near our local fish & chip shop, so his bike was quiet as it was stationary. Someone tried reversing away from the chippy into him, then wound down the window to shout at him to reverse out of her way. So he makes sure the exhaust is louder than standard now so people can hear him.0
