So NOO Yurk has suspended trading, it might have something to do with the fact that the Chinese stock market has gone into free fall and has suspended trading today.

This could have serious repercussions throughout the whole world.
And so the house of cards is on the brink of total collapse!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Daz,
Even though it sounds good min wage going uo like that, for small firms like ours who are struggling, this could be the final straw..
Don't forget, its not only wages increases, we also have to pay 5% of your wages into a pension fund, PLUS from last April if an employee is off sick, and claims sick pay, we can not claim it back, plus we also pay employers tax contributions on top of your wages...
We have gone without taking any money out for our wages some weeks, so we could pay staff..due to things either being quiet, or waiting for invoices to be paid..
Sooooooo I can see alot of small firms either not taking on, leaving staff go, and loads closing..down..Work to live= not live to work0 -

What do you think could potentially happen?? Love to hear your thoughtsWork to live= not live to work0 -
CTT I think it will be worse than 2008 crash and that everyones bank accounts will be raided to bail the banks out this time, just as they did in Cyprus.
They can close the banks at any time, you only have to look to Cyprus and now Greece to see what happens.
I will be drawing out as much as I can and paying extra off of the mortgage to clear it as quickly as I can, that is our only debt and we only owe £10,000 now.
I wish we could afford a smallholding of our own especially as the animal feed of the big suppliers to the supermarkets is now contaminated with gmo's. But unfortunately we can't afford it
At least if you have your own livestock and land you can feed yourself whatever sort of storm comes along.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Has this been on the cards with China?? Or has it been kept hush, hush??
I have booger all in the bank, and have quite a bit of debt, which I have slowly been throwing every spare penny at,
Been telling youngest to take his monthly wages out of the bank in one lump and divide the cash into weekly amounts, as he always runs out of money before the end of the month lol, so another reason for him to get into the habbit of doing it..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Do you think this will have an impact on certain food prices??Work to live= not live to work0

Yep, perfect sense thanks.0 -
Re Greece. I don't think this has been shown by the M S M.

Also anyone who has a tax payment due on 31st July might be well advised to pay it now rather than later. I'm going to.0 -

Very good point.
An extension of my "Better in their (ie someone else's) bank account than your own" for any money you owe that someone else. Have just been sitting here again this morning thinking "Glad I paid that recent Big Bill very promptly - and can see that cheque has gone through (into their bank account). Not my responsibility - not my problem about that money of mine now".
HMRC would still get onto people and give them a hard time (and, quite fair to do so) even if their taxes money had been whipped out of their bank account courtesy of the actions of another Government Dept doing a bail-in.
EDIT; Actually - on a their/or your money basis - I am expecting an extension of the thing I have noticed happening rather in recent years. That is - people/firms/governments all out to transfer "their" charges for things onto other peoples shoulders if they can possibly find an excuse to do so. The last few years I've witnessed, one by one, things like being charged to go into formerly free events/the State trying to charge people for things they formerly had free or at minimal cost. I am dealing with someone right now personally who is trying to find excuses to transfer some of "their" costs onto my shoulders - and being dealt with very firmly - as it wont be happening.
So that's certainly a point to be aware of - protecting yourself against other people trying to shove "their" costs onto "your" shoulders and its a dead cert. that firms and the State will be trying even harder to do so. But individuals try it on too and I would certainly not advocate being a "guarantor" for anyone else right now if at all possible.0
