Thanks, jk0, it's a boring old cold, an Office Germ from last week, I reckon. In the spirit of solidarity, I am probably spreading it back around the same colleagues. Caring, sharing type that I am.:p
Rough as I feel, at least I'm not in the elections office. We (as in customer services) have been told to treat them very gently this coming Friday as they will have been up for 36 hours straight. Poor beggars.......... send a healing vibe to the guys and gals up for the count and then working the next day in your neck of the woods.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

What you need my girl is hot honey and lemon with a slug of the hard stuff in it and a decent nights repose without even a hint of electioneering or the usual shenannegins at shoebox towers. If they get too noisy just go outside and breathe at 'em in a meaningful way.....in a few days shoebox towers will be quiet and peaceful cos they'll all be feeling like you do this evening! Look after you GQ xxx.0

LMAO, Lyn, you are a tonic in yourself!
Only hooch on the premises is a bottle of red wine which I was given in passing last month, that's sitting waiting for a companion to swing by who actually drinks. Most of my pals are either tee-total or on meds they shouldn't drink with.
Mind you, a nip of sloe gin would be just the ticket right now. Gonna go offline and lay on the sofa with a HWB under the small of my back and a furry blanket and a trashy novel. There are those amongst us who know how to live it up, hey? I shall skive off the dishwashing on grounds of CBA. See y'all tomoz. GQ xx

Let this be a lesson to you GQ (and everyone else) that you should ALWAYS have alcohol to hand for medicinal purposes!
Mrs LW - I'm hoping the electricity will keep functioning at there's been a LOT of tree work done in rural areas to deal with the issues we've had over the last few years. You might want to get HWK to keep an eye out for SSE tree surgeons and offer them a drop-off point as they don't like taking the stuff home0 -
Will do, we've cadged wood from the gas board before this, when they were putting in new pipes in the village we asked them what happened to the hardwood cradles the pipes were delivered in and they just threw them away, bless them, they took to delivering dumper truck loads to the top of the drive and were quite pleased someone could use them!!!0

GQ I hope your lurgy is better than the one that laid me up over the weekend - what a waste of a bank holiday
Saw this that I thought might be interesting, looking worrying for Greek public sector workers:

Where is 2tonsils now anyway?
jko, that Jersey archive looks really interesting, I've only looked at the first few pages so far, some hard choices being made for hard times it seems.
It almost seems to me as though it was a more honest time in politics - the nonsense being spouted by all the parties is ridiculous, how can anyone believe anything they say? It's blatantly obvious that unless the real economy takes off like a rocket (which is not going to happen while the Chinese and even the Germans are undercutting us) the only way to pay for the promises made will be to make swingeing cuts elsewhere. Local government and defence, probably, at the very least. I heard Nick Clegg on the radio this morning talking about whether we should replace Trident and his argument was that the Cold War was over - but is the world a safer place? Brrr.0 -
Thanks PP.
I grew up in Jersey, and am finding the cuttings fascinating. There are a lot of articles about the Germans sanctioning the Jersey people for one reason or another, but I am quite touched by the one on page 157:
It has a picture of German soldiers bearing a Union Jack draped coffin. They were giving full military honours to a couple of British airmen who's bodies had washed up on the beach.
Funnily enough, the funeral director firm was the same one that cremated my father in 1996.0 -
Get yourself well soon GQ. We can't be doing without your brand of humour on this thread. Sorry you had to miss your arrows. I really enjoyed when DS and I joined a club many years ago.Dor0
