It would not surprise me if the Greeks had plans to bring the house down around everyone's ears in ruins if they are forced out of the EuroIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Currently have one of those 1m3 /1000l tanks that is not actually connected to the guttering .... another thing on the list.
A relative wanted rid, so of course we obliged and took possession. He even delivered
Blue / Green / Sky blue pink with purple polka dot - it holds water! It's good for my veg
Though thinking about it ..... a nice shade of pastel green might fit in nicely behind the nettles .......CC = £000000000000000000000 !!!!!
BOMAD = £2650 / £2800
APEX = £4770 / £8000

Not only that article but the additional mention of the neo-nazi group worries me greatly.Don't people read history books?
I despair.
Someone earlier mentioned futureproofing your homes against old age. I think this thread seems to be concerned with futureproofing individual existences at a level each person is comfortable with.
For some that may be just food for three days if you are poorly, for others it may be the full self-sufficiency gig.
I hope each one of you reaches the level with which you are comfortable.
But, in the words of the great Mardatha - without your health you're b**ge**d. I am finding this out big time.:(
Where is Bob, I was wondering?
Daz- did you get your Dad sorted out?

You could try to find blue nettles, we can get red cabbage after all but polka dot ones might be a little harder to find!0

We have some nettles that have the sting of a wasp - I might try those blanched this year - just to get my own back !
Normal nettles were tried in soup and in place of spinach last year but have to say - good in small quantities only
- Please tell Mrs BHB there are only so many nettles you can eat
She has an eye for a bargain .... :rotfl:
Note to self ....Must plant more spinach......CC = £000000000000000000000 !!!!!

Nope Doveling...no-one does read history apparently..hence why we seem to just "run round in circles", as no-one learns the lessons contained for us to read.
Mind you....I suppose it might help sometimes if history books got written in a somewhat different way to the ones I seem to recall from schooldays (ie of what their possessions were like/which kings won which battles etc). Much more useful to read books slanted towards environmental degradation and political machinations and that way we can get to see just how little things change over the centuries in very basic respects and then we might stand more chance of learning the lessons history could teach us.
Whereas I used to regard history as a steady onward march towards progress (like one of those graphs with the line going steadily upward), I now tend to regard it as more of a spiral. It goes round in a circle, heads "upwards" to another level and then goes round in that same circle. Its the Coiled Spring way of visualising history, rather than Steady Onward March you could say...0 -
One can NEVER have too much spinach, one can definately though have too many nettles unless one is a peacock butterfly in which case nettles are a necessity for ones offspring to overwinter on. Do you humans overwinter your offspring in those Polytunnel things? Very odd things humans!
I have a swedish nettle soup recipe which is made as a spring cleanser and DD1 and I tried it for the first time when we visited the British Museum for a Viking Exhibition last summer. It's garnished with chopped egg, dill and other herbs and it's really tasty. Can post the recipe with my own tweaks if you'd like to try it?0 -
