:DWhee, I've been on a family walk and seen 8 herons, fantastico, feel all blown about and invigourated. Just have to hide a bit from Her Madge (have an allergy to royalty) and then we'll have a cuppa and a natter.

    Season's best to everyone.

  • Happy and peaceful Christmas to everyone.

Looks like preps may be needed tomorrow as possible snow or worse, sleet and freezing cold rain! My totally least favourite weather is sleet especially the horizontal type!

8 herons! Wonder what they taste like? Around here they are not popular as their population seems to have doubled and the poor fish populations have taken a real bashing in the rivers, canals and ponds ( inc goldfish!)

:p They're by the flooded gravel pits which are stocked for an angling club. I don't imagine that they are overfond of them, either!

Don't envy you the horizontal sleet. We had a sunny day but the rain was brewing up about 3-ish and the temperature had dropped a lot so going to be a cold night. Hope the weather stays decent here tomorrow as have a lot of rellies buzzing around to spend Boxing Day with each other; I shall be hanging out with the cats.

The Queen of Sheba is giving it serious lap-time and Wild Thing, who is pelted up like some artic animal, has rediscovered the joy of lying on top of the radiator. Plus she scrounged some beef at lunchtime, so all is well in her world.

Wild Thing, more than any other cat we've owned, prompts many a head-shaking and a rueful That cat isn't right (in the head).

But she's very very cute, so she gets away with a lot.

Hey GQ, Christmas reduction food poker (version 1.0). Went to a local supermarket to check the reduced goods, spent about a tenner. Knew there was a reason I'd defrosted the freezer.... I bet right now, by weight, I have the same in cheap meat which I've frozen as you have in baked beans. An example, 150g cooked chicken breast pieces - 10c (about 7p). And then there's lamb, steak, pork.... We'll live like kings until about February!

Believe me, around here this counted as a little Christmas miracle. I'd send you a pack of chicken breast pieces, but the postage would cost about 100 x the chicken.
