Anyone seen this on Zerohedge:

katep23, I invested in a multi-tool last year (or was it the year before?). I did a lot of reading reviews first and because I was (temporarily) feeling a bit flush at the time got a Leatherman Charge TTI, which is great if pricy. The Leatherman Wave is almost as good and quite a lot less to buy. Looking at the prices on Amaz0n,.both are looking a lot more expensive than when I bought, probably there will be better deals after Christmas although that won't be much good for presents.0

Thanks PP, will go have a look!0

Just reposting this:
P.S The new T*sco magazine (The one with the white cake on the cover) has a voucher in the back for 75p off Covent Garden soup. Some flavours are half price at the moment so it goes down to 42p a carton. Hope that helps someone xxx
With huge thanks to SDG3100 - I did this today and bought four cartons for the freezer. It's good soup, and will be hugely useful when the weather gets colder. Amazing price ... One tip - if you want to go for several (or more!) take a little pair of scissors with you to cut the vouchers out, as the checkouts need them separately to go in the till. The soup voucher is at the back of the magazine, on the last page but one. I think the half price offer lasts until the 9th, so get in there.0 -
Just learnt of another useful item for bobs and survival kits, a good pencil sharpener. Great for making wood shavings from twigs for fire starting. Haven't tried it yet, but going to give it a go.
Also as I was wandering around @m@zon I came across Sawyer water filters and wondered if anyone here had one. If so how do you find it ? They look really neat and at £25 are more affordable than some of the alternatives. They also claim to have 0.1 micron filter.

Re the bugging out I did find this yesterday.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGYTBoEaaoI
The upshot is that if everyone bugged out there simply would not be the resources for us all and very few of us could adapt to a life in the wild. He did also comment on the lack of tents and sleeping bags in youtube bug out bags. The best comment was why bug out to the woods when you could go to a hotel or a distant friend for the duration of what ever causes you to bug out in the first place. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Well, OH and I would certainly not be physically able to cope with bugging out to anywhere except local family members! So we shall concentrate on bugging in and hope that the alternative will never be necessary for us.

Thought for you jk0 for the day being that there has apparently been a test run by the US Governm*nt for blocking out the unofficial news sites in California on 3 December.
The Natural News website said that if they are blocked, for instance, people will still be able to access by putting in its Internet "number" of 108.168.157.185 in the search bar, rather than typing in the website address.
Presumably this method of "getting through" any blocking will also work for other alternative news sites if there is widescale blocking of them at any point, eg Zero Hedge (a site I know you favour).
Perhaps, if you know, how to find out the relevant numbers of these news sites you could share it with us, so that we can save the "way to get through" to any that are blocked.
Of course...in the process...we are also ensuring they are less likely to be blocked in the first place, if its known we can find a way to "get through" to them anyway;)0 -

I'm a b*ggar in too ivyleaf, not really in to b*ggaring off!:rotfl:
I do the best I can. don't have a lot of kit and try to make everything I do have multi purpose. I've said it loads but I think the knowledge goes hand in hand with the kit and if that knowledge can help you use a bit of kit that it wasn't intended for then... what's not to like.

One thing that a lot of people would really struggle with in a real SHTF situation is medication.
Simple infections can turn deadly without antibiotics and there are a huge number of people who rely on medication to keep them alive (asthma, heart problems, diabetes etc) and others who rely on medication to maintain a decent quality of life (antidepressants, etc etc)0
