I do not know if this link has been put on this thread but I think it would be an excellent starter for many of us.

Certain things like earthquakes and volcanoes really do not apply to many of us but there are some who live in such reasons so it would be useful for them. Though floods and tornadoes are much more prevalent in the UK. Though fortunately our tornadoes are tiny in comparison to the US ones. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
I think this counts as a preparedness question really, has anyone tried making sauerkraut? Come to mention it, has anyone even tried eating the stuff?
Just came across the method online, thought crikey that looks simple, wonder if it works and wonder what it tastes like.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
A minor SHTF moment all my lights in the flat are off fuse box keeps tripping when i try to reset ... the fuse box sparks and trips right away....council flat so i will call them in monday morning....sunnan lamp has come in useful , keychain light so i could find my other leds and you realise how more dangerous the flat is in the dark
I'm 99% sure this will be a dead bulb. Turn off all your switches, (or remove bulbs) and then you should be able to turn on the trip.
Turn the switches on one by one, and you will find out which bulb is dead. (Trip will blow again.)0 -

There's sauerkraut and sauerkraut.
As in, I like freshly-made stuff, but not the "convenience" stuff.
I did go on a food course one time that included making your own sauerkraut and there was much bashing around of cabbage and we all had some with lunch - nice it was (which surprised me, as I had expected to dislike it).
Have been meaning to get round to making some myself ever since, as its cheap and, I understand, very healthy.0 -

Given how simple it is to make, I can't wrap my head around buying it. So as soon as I'm able, I may give it a go. It has the healthy digestivy bacteria apparently. I just focus on things being cheap and nice tasting though mostly! I'm sitting recuperating and mostly focusing on food preservation.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Worth a go Softstuff. Only reason I haven't got round to doing it since I've had more in the way of kitchen facilities in some respects (ie having moved recently) is courtesy of all the necessary work involved in getting together rather a wreck of a house, plus other unexpected stuff that has cropped up in connection with the house:cool::(, which is taking my focus of more Important Things and My Life a bit at the moment.
Speaking of preps and unexpected things, just off to have a go at a certain manhole cover with an outside drain underneath it that looks rather blocked to me:(_pale_:eek: and that brings a whole new meaning to "getting down and dirty" (and not the first one you thought of there unfortunately:rotfl:).
Yuk....oh boy...or in Welsh "o diar".
It's harder work living here than I anticipated in some ways (hospital-wise a 10 minute "look see" the other day translated into about 5 hours, by the time I added in Welsh public transport to the equation. Visiting a local Council office took another 4-5 hours (instead of 1 hour). Agh! Gimme My Life back...
That particular game of "snakes and ladders" will have to change into the "ladder" I came for soon......keep up the Positive Thinking.0 -

move then... simples really,
you cant have it all ways, live a more laid back life, with free prescriptions etc, in a quiet area, and then moan about public transport etc..
seems as though you like moaning about the welsh and living in wales...
has anyone tasted the tinned pork/beef goulash from Lidl? I think its about £2.39 a tin. wanted to add some different things to my tin stash...
I have also added super strength pain killers to my stash, asked the chemist for the strongest pain killers I could buy over the counter, reason being I had mega toothache... went to dentist on Friday had tooth out, but got to go back, still hurting now where they took tooth out..
only used 2 tablets out of the pack of 30, so these are now in the emergency stash for extreme pain lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Thanks for that jko.
Parliament also needs to kick the Rememberancer out as well. The rememberancer is an official lobbyist who sits behind the Speaker's chair and ensures that, whatever our elected representatives might think, the City's rights and privileges are protected.
