OK if we're on about stupid practises how about sending our home caught prawns to Thailand to be cooked and packaged to be sent back to sell in UK supermarkets and the utter utter stupidity of sending cauliflowers from Penzance to Lincolnshire to be processed in a packing plant and then sending them back to the supermarket in Penzance to be sold to the locals AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Stop the world, I definately want to get off!!!!!
:) Can I step off with you, Lyn?

And we apparently export almost exactly the amount of pork that we import. And when my parents had their extension built, the roof timbers came from Scandinavia, not the forest 10 miles up the road.

Fer cryin' out loud, shipping and transportation is obviously far too cheap if this lunacy can still be viable.

The generations coming up behind us will be beside themselves with fury at the sheer unbridled selfishness, stupidity and greed of us.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

    A few things of interest.

Pillar candles at £4-99 per box, of either 4x40 hour, or 8x19 hour.

    A 2000W convection heater for £14-99.

And, a Safe Can, for valuables storage, for £2-99.

I buy Corale Beans all the time, and I can tell you it's so like a real can of beans, it's amazing.

Placed on a shelf, among real cans, and you would never know it was there.
  • That is my friend if this fragile ecosystem is still around for generations to follow us in the first place. Oh the great god Mammon has a lot to answer for, no?

I can't think of anyone I'd rather step off the world with my friend, but can you , hand on heart think of anywhere that would actually risk taking the two of us???

    :D Lol, probably not.

But when the space ship returns to ferry me back to my true home, Planet Sensible, anyone who fancies a visit is welcome to tag along.

  • I can beat both of those.

Under the CAP, we must import 15% of the milk, which is sold in this country.

As a result, we export millions of litres of milk, to other countries, then import millions of litres of milk, into the UK.
  • I had a horrible feeling you were going to say BUTLINS!!!!!

I used to know a pig farmer who told me half of it ended up back here with danish stamped on it........!!!!!!.

    We are insane.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Of course we are, but not it would appear nearly as insane as those who run things!!!

there is uproar with Dairy farmers at mo, as the price they are getting per Ltre is only 25p and it costs them over 30p to produce.. they are now trying to blame Russia, as Russia has put a ban on any Eu products..by all accounts 1/4 of milk produced is sold into Eu countries ..
I can well believe re- pork.. I have pigs, but unless you can intensively rear etc and go for quantity rather than quality, they are not interested, and then you are only making a few pennies per kg..if you are lucky..I can see now why big producers try and cut costs by and then there is a grey area around our food.
