Hi Doveling,
Just popping in to suggest you check out craftsy.com
Some of their classes are free 'mini classes' (I think there are three to five hour long classes for each category that are free). The other's vary in price some probably a bit pricey (anywhere from £12-25 for around 2 hours of instruction broken into lessons). They cover crafts, gardening, woodworking, sewing, crochet, knitting, spinning and weaving, cooking and baking, painting, drawing and photography.
I've done a few of their free classes, and have one that was bought for me and they all seem fairly good, and the descriptions of skill level required are fairly accurate.
I'll be checking out the other sites mentioned!0 -

Hi All,
I have been completely overwhelmed by real life since April and just couldn't keep up or find the energy to check in to see how everyone was doing. I have barely been able to keep up with the news let alone my own life.
This summer has been the worse ever for OH and myself. A mixure of personal illness, eyesight and teeth problems, family illness, 2 funerals in quick succession and several trips north, helping a neighbour with various matters all on top of my duties as a carer.
Its no wonder my batteries are so depleted and I feel so low. Is it any wonder that people don't acknowledge my ME when I fail to pace my self and keep going only to collapse in private.
I have learnt many valuable lessons this summer whilst helping others and coping with one thing followed by another.
1. Appreciate and cherish those that are dear while you can.
2. Make your health top priority.
3. Don't put things off so often and let them build up for another day.
4. Enjoy life when you can and especially the simple things.
5. Prepare and don't take your eye off the ball.
6. Eat properly
7. Know when to say "No Sorry I Can't" without feeling guilty.
8. Create plenty of good memories with those that you love and store them just as you would supplies. They will keep you going in those tough times that may lie ahead.
I have decided to try and practice what I preach and starting now I'm going to try and look after me a bit more and hopefully by the time I reach the big Five O I might be part way there.
My life has become as muddled as my BOB and although I see things and buy them with the words "that will be really useful" ringing in my head, there is no order involved. My head, home, life are all in disarray and need organising and space.
If the shtf now we are stuffed because of the lack of organisation. So my resolution for the 1st September is to get organised. Take control of my life. Stop putting things off and declutter.
Please wish me luck and hopefully I won't get so lost in the mammoth task that lies ahead and feel able to come and join you on here. I've really missed you all, the sanity and support here really helps me from total madness in this crazy messed up world.
Thanks for reading my waffle. Hugs to all who may need them, I'm off to catch up a little if I can.0 -

I am sure the organisation will fall into place once you have the time and space to focus on it. Better to have the stuff but need a chance to find it quickly than not to have anything at all IYKWIM.
I agree with what you have learned over the last few months and it is very similar to what I am struggling to get to grips with at the moment.
Herrick's poem "Gather ye rosebuds while you may" has never seemed so appropriate.
Having always prided myself on being resourceful and a problem solver it is a real scunner when something comes up that leaves me unsure of what to do for the best.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Anyway, a question. Do any of you know of any useful courses which I could do online to keep me relatively sane whilst incapacitated. They would have to be free or very cheap.
I dislike knitting etc. (although I can do it) as I am more of an up a ladder/pushing a wheelbarrow/sanding it down sort of gal.
Thanks in advance.
Might sound a bit daft and obvious, but there are plenty of workshops, guides and how to's on YouTube.
Just type what you fancy learning in with a few words like tutorials, lessons / workshop.
Might be surprised what you find on there, ok you don't get a credited certificate at the end, but at least you can comment on videos and even suggest what you would like to learn, they may be able to do a video on a certain thing you want to know!0 -

I disagree.

I love the cheerful yet meaningful song that Jools Holland usually finishes his concerts with:
"Enjoy yourself! Its later than you think
Enjoy yourself! While you're still in the pink
The years go by as quickly as a wink":heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Hi SIEGEMODE nice to see you posting again. I'm sorry that life has been so full on and difficult for you over the past few months it's always when you're at full pace that all the extra things happen in life so well done for actually getting through it and coming out the other side.
When you are able to slow down you'll make order out of the chaos, you'll be able to establish calm in your life and home again and gradually get back to an established routine. We've all been inundated by happenings, so we all know how exhausted a period like that makes you feel. Don't try to do it all at once, you'll end up in a worse muddle. Take one thing when you have time and see it through completely, even if it's just tidy up one cupboard or straighten out a bookshelf. Do all those jobs as one offs and before you know it you'll be looking at an ordered life and a serene home. If you can't find time every day well, where's the harm in that. Slow and steady wins the race as the tortoise said to the hare, yes? Lyn xxx.0 -
Siegemode please be gentle with youself and take things slowly, you sound emotionally drained. Big hugs.
