Does that mean you could get your garden dug over for you?

It might be worth finding out if you can get some people doing community service could actually do it for you. They are always looking for jobs that could be done.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

BB it would certainly be a much milder climate and longer growing season than up here. I was amazed at how warm the west of Ireland is.

ideally I would love to live either somewhere like http://lammas.org.uk/ or something totally stepping back in time, flagstone floors big open fire etc,, nothing that has been modernised, and in the middle of nowhere.. BUT I am very lucky that I have got a place with land, and an old house that we are rescuing lol

interesting read about Ukraine etc.. I personally think they do selective new reports on this, Another good reason to make sure We get our trees/wood cut and stored....

Apart from the gas supply would there be any other potential things that this could effect?

The major exports are gas oil and coal. Russia buys 10% of the cars manufactured in the UK. The Dutch economy could take a major hit its trade with Russia was around 21 million Euros last year. Though generally mainland Europe is a lot more exposed to problems with Russian trade than the UK is.

Oh, and there's likely to be a shortage of decent caviar.
