:) ginny, most cakes are perfectly freezable but like once-frozen bread, they tend to go stale more quickly than never-frozen, once they've been thawed out. Perhaps you could portion the cake for the freezer and only defrost a little at a time which would then be eaten quickly? HTH.

    Evening all :)

Ali that's good you could spend some positive time with the family amidst all the worry hoping your Dad continues to improve XX

Rhubarb yes well they were only diddy sticks lol don't all get jealous I haven't got monsters growing just yet as I grew the plants from seed *plus I'm fighting a battle with neighbourhood cats keep digging them up* ho hum

Ginny I use Lakeland easy leave paper to seperate cakes into portion size before I freeze them then overwrap with foil and if I'm pushing the boat out I use a ziplock bag too :) Don't buy the easyleave as Wilkinsons 19p cheapo sandwich bags are made of the same stuff so split these down the sides and use the same way ;) (I know they're not 19p anymore they were last time I cleared the display out lol)

Been a busy bee and we've even had to water tonight as everything is so dry, who'dathunk it with all that rain!

Plans for tomorrow include yet more potting on as the spinach and chard is going mad,my courgettes and squashy type thingies I sowed indoors are going to have to go into larger pots and I want to sow some runner and climbing beans seeing as the dwarf ones have come through quite happily in the greenhouse.

My cukes have not kamikazied just yet still got the five but theres time yet especially if my mum tries to help, she's never lived down the fact she killed everyone she helped repot a couple of years ago.Weird seeing as she's brilliant at gardening but sadly cukes are her nemesis..

Where is Annie Ginny? Hope she's ok missing her posts but as I know life sometimes gets a bit hectic and we can't always post, send her my love if you speak to her thanks :)

It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

I guess those of us on this thread are most prepared if it happens. I feel quite relaxed to be honest. I have two alternate sources of heating, and several of lighting, and a nearly full tank of diesel.

Also, I have fixed my energy price until the end of 2017.
