I'll get it at 67 then. Or never, which seems more likely.0

Love it. My Nan's got a Judge saucepan which Mum got from Green Shield Stamps back in the 1960s. It's still good.
My everyday stacking stainless steel pan has been in daily use for a quarter of a century so is a little young by family pan standards. Most of Nan's stuff comes from the 40s and 50s. Apart from the microwave, fridge-freezer and leccy kettle. She's an OS countrywoman but not a masochist when it comes to housework.
Le Crueset cookware would see off legions of zombies, can you imagine the murderous power of one of their pans wielded with intent? One of my daintier friends had a hubs who kept buying her this stuff until she demontrated that she could barely lift them empty, never mind cook with them.:rotfl:
Bit late on this one (only just catching up with the thread) - but wanted to add that we have a Judge saucepan in regular use (big brown one) that hubby's Mum found in the greenhouse of a house in 1991, when they moved in... it ended up with us and I have to say, it's still brilliant, if a little rustic looking. I use LeCrueset every day as we were lucky enough to be given a load of those too, I tried to pass some on to my Mum but her wrists are too weak for them.
I used my dehydrator the other day, dried quite a few things, need to cut some a bit thicker next time but generally I was pleased with the result.
Hubby helped me organise the food store today, I have a tendency to fling bags of food under the stairs or randomly deposit cans on shelves... he has now made us a system where things are grouped together sensibly... We may be down to our last tube of tomato puree, which is rather frightening. But we do have 30+ jars of pesto which arrived from approved foods today!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

When we're all rich pensioners (snigger) we will be able to afford our very own toy boys. Many a fine tune played on an old fiddle, as the saying has it.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Got myself a Jump Starter pack.
Not the one from ALDI, but one £20 cheaper, from B&M Bargains.
It's very similar to this one.
In fact, it probably is this one, with a different label on it.
Unlike the ALDI one (which has 2), it only has one 12 Volt socket but, for a £20 saving, I can live with that.
£land do a 1 into 2 adapter.
It also doesn't have a USB socket, but I have a cigarette lighter/USB adapter, and IIRC, the £land 1 into 2 adapter has a USB socket.
BTW. B&M Bargains are stocking an LED wind up lantern, for £8-99.0 -

Did anyone watch this programme about the UK energy supply this evening?:

Very informative & worrying, but as Lynn said above: Smug, smug, smug.0 -

Coincidentally, I decided to try out my booster pack for the first time this evening.

I plugged my TV, freeview box, and vcr into the inverter. (Only about 60 watts in total.) When I switched on the TV, the VCR shut itself off, presumably because the voltage momentarily went too low.
The inverter has a fan that works harder the greater the load you put on it.0 -
BBob, you have a torch in your pocket? I'm disappointed, I thought you were just pleased to see me!
I have a neighbour who uses a machete as a kitchen knife, it certainly scares people who knock on her door when she answers the door carrying it.
I've deferred my pension for a year, I will now claim it from July this year & claim my deferred payment too.

More extreme prepping? :eek::eek:
Extreme tooth ache more like... There's nothing like that feeling that someone is sawing through your jawbone when you are 4500 miles away from your dentist. The temp filler fills cracks in a filling and will get you home (the trick is to get it smooth enough). The crown glue is great when you are the same distance from home and it falls off in your toffee. A less extreme answer may be not to eat toffee abroad. I used everything from my first kit so I bought a second one.
They are dirt cheap in Walmart. Most people go there to stock up on Mickey Mouse t shirts. I stocked up on do it yourself dental kits and the materials to make fly screens with. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
