Thankfully not,D&DD.
We had some last weekend who were lovely.
Then a camper fell out of one of my damson trees stealing damsons!
Thank goodness the season is nearly over and the wildlife get the site back until Easter.
Though I get the damsons, blackberries and elderberries.
Thanks for asking.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -
I have aloe vera plants for minor burns. Used it for dgs a few weeks ago when he burnt himself. He was horrified but he still let me put it on then gave me a big smile when he realised it had stopped hurting. I asked his mum a few days later how his burn was and she said "what burn?". He had not complained about it and it healed quickly.0

Harvest failed and spring 2013 planting under threat too.
The harvest here is also in dire straits too, combining has come to an abrupt halt

They have had to leave the combine parked instead of working and in some local areas they are stuck in floods. The high fields behind have been ploughed but that is all and fields lower down are still as they were after oilseed rape was taken. Going on the fields now will completely ruin the soil structure for future crops. The one big sweetcorn field near us looks dreadful and the whole crop looks to have failed too.0 -
Thanks very much for the links Mar and Kittie it's been a challenging year for growers I do feel for them.
No panic here I simply sub my shopping list accordinglyIt's nice to have the heads up on possible price rises so if I see an offer I can make use of the info if I wish to
I still refuse to give in and buy turnips yet :rotfl:0 -

I still refuse to give in and buy turnips yet :rotfl:But you might need a rock -turnip to load into the cannon/catapult/arbelast/ballista/seige engine of your choice to fire at the zombies!
If you start now, you can get them nice 'n'shrivelled in time for the Apocalypse.
Sorry. I'm going offline now.:oEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just reading some of the news reports about all the flooding those poor peopleI know we can prep for evacuation but how heartbreaking must it be to have to leave stuff behind or have it all ruined..

You are right about Poundland though as I have seen many things for a £1 that are cheaper elsewhere.
I wish I could send you a T3sco - we have 6 in a 5 mile radius...On the subject on smoking food for preservation, my parents' Polish enighbours have an old-fashioned tall metal locker (the kind that is 6 feet tall) in their back garden which they use as a smoker.
Perhaps there is a poster with experience of small-scale home smoking who can share some skills with us? It would be good to add the knowdledge to the repetoire.
I was skim reading & thought you said your parents had a 6 ft Polish neighbour in their garden...Our beagle/collie cross will come into his own in that scenarioNo, I don't think that deeply about prepping. Not that I'm against those who do, just that I don't find it relevant for me. It might be worth thinking about other sources of protein and fats too. We don't need to eat meat for survival.
Fuddle, the problem is, most of the protein rich foods that are easy to produce in the UK do depend on animals, either as meat or as a product - eggs or milk. Both are good fat sources too.0 -
Did anybody else nip over the fence and steal turnips out of the fields when they were wee? - just wondering how it would look in the local paper if I did it now, got stuck on the bloody fence and got caught0
